Rule 5 of Subconscious Mind- What’s expected Will be Realized, Based on Performance, Defined Objectives, Perseverance, and Conditioning

Successful people possess three (3) defending traits, as not only are they able to see their dreams in full color in their mind, but they expect to accomplish their dreams with perseverance and passion in their heart. In other words, successful people DON’T GIVE UP! This is highlighted by a great passage found in Proverbs 23:7, For what you think within your heart so you will become.

Proverbs 23:7 makes an important distinction between the mind and heart. The mind can generate one’s dreams, ideas, and desires, but the heart generates the passion and perseverance in order to achieve these. Successful athletes can take their dreams, ideas, and desires and supercharge them with their perseverance and passion.

That’s why Solomon, one of the wisest person’s in history combined three human traits, thinking of the mind with the passion and perseverance of the human heart. One movie that captures this was the movie Rudy, where Coach Ara Parseghian told Rudy Ruettiger that, He wished all his players had half the passion that Rudy demonstrated on the practice squad.

Even in the face of challenges, difficulties, and disappointments, Rudy Ruettiger never gave up on his passion and perseverance to just play in one Notre Dame Football game. He took the hits, the bruises, and pulled muscles to accomplish his dream of earning the right to play on Notre Dame’s Football Team.

This is an important point to highlight that many motivation speakers don’t mention, which is putting in the required dirt work. Rudy wasn’t just given the opportunity to play in a Notre Dame Football game, but Rudy actually earned the right to play in a Notre Dame Football game. Putting in the time on the practice squad is what I call the dirt work of success.

To fuel Rudy’s dream and desires, Rudy actually laid out a detailed plan, processes, and procedures of what he needed to do to accomplish his desires. Successful people don’t just focus on opportunities, but also obstacles that need to be overcome. Remember Rule No. 4, Every thought causes a physical reaction. This is where the subconscious mind has incredible influence in our success.

Positive and Negative Issues Play an Important Role

When I was tasked with very difficult and tough projects as a project engineer, I would have to present my plan to committees and boards. What was the deciding factor in getting approvals to proceed was more to do with the precautions that I had to address than the procedures I had to accomplish for the project.

What is significant about your subconscious mind is how it responds to obstacles as well as opportunities. It doesn’t make any distinction between negative or positive issues. In order to set expectations and realize your dreams, ideas, and desires, you have to plan and prepare for the obstacles as well as the opportunities.

But the last stage in preparation and planning in order to realize your dreams, ideas, and desires is to focus on what I want to do before I pull the trigger. Here is why; your preparations, plans, and procedures have already accounted for the obstacles figured, or baked, into the process, so what I wanted to concentrate on was what I wanted to do and not do.

Here is a Great Philosophy to Have Expected what Was realized

There is a great Indian philosopher, Swami Vivekananda, that stated about successful people and their passionate- Take up one idea. Make that one idea your life– think of it, dream of it, live that idea. Let the brain, muscle, nerves, every part of your body, be filled of that idea, and leave every other idea alone. This is the way to success.

A key technique that Swami Vivekananda mentioned above was the ability to live that idea. This is especially true with athletes, as developing athletes actually picture and imagine themselves to mimic a professional athlete’s mannerism that they admire.

A great example of this is Tiger Woods who admired Jack Nicklaus and his career.
