A Convenient and Handy Owner’s Manual with YouTube Videos on How to Use Your New Golf Clubs

All about how to set the proper wrist action in your golf swing by setting up a miniature golf swing like throwing a baseball.

There’s nothing more exciting than receiving a new club or set of golf clubs for Christmas. The first time you pick up your new Driver all the way down to your Sand Wedge, they feel and look great in your hands. The look and feel of a club or set of clubs in your hands will provide a significant amount of confidence to you and give you a sense of appreciation to the ones that thought enough to purchase you a new set of golf clubs.

One fundamental principle of golf is to develop a more consistent golf game with more control and distance is that for the right-handed golfer, the left forearm and wrist are for power. The golfer’s right forearm and wrist are for clubhead speed. Boxing gloves are a great mental image to create this.

Whether this is your first set of golf clubs or a new set of golf clubs, you can start to build your confidence in your new golf clubs just by focusing on four areas.

1). First, the palm of your dominant hand; for me, this is my right hand.

The Palmer Technique of picturing a golf club in your right hand palm is a important technique.

If you ever had a first golf lesson, your instructor might have drawn a clubface in the palm of your dominant hand. This is a technique you need to keep a vivid mental image of because it is your path to a more consistent golf swing on and off the golf course.

2). Second, is the area just above your wrist, or the top of the wristbands on a pair of kickboxing gloves, shown above. If you want to improve your golf game for training purposes swap out your golf glove for a pair of kickboxing gloves. Great way to preset the wrist action in your golf swing.

3). Third, is placing your wrists into the Lock Position and how the top of the right and left wristbands line up with each other, shown above.

4). Fourth is to create a Baseball-Type Strike Zone and concentrate on the bottom of the Strike Zone, as shown below.

The best Golf Swing Image is developing a Strike Zone like a baseball batter would do in the batter’s box. This allows you to take your golf swing from the batter’s box to the tee box.

By keeping your focus on these four areas, you can set the proper wrist action in your golf swing. If you’ve ever thrown a baseball, then you’ve got the proper wrist action in both wrists.

This wrist action is called the Dorsiflex, a key element in setting the proper wrist action in your golf swing. It is almost like a miniature golf swing.

By focusing on the Strike Zone and the dominant palm of your hand, you can develop a better mental image of how the clubface impacts the golf ball.

After you spend time just mentally working on these four areas, then you can go out into your garage, and with a piece of old carpet and a makeshift backstop, like a heavy tarp, you can practice what I call the Bunt-Type Chip/Pitch shot. This is demonstrated in my two (2) YouTube Videos Below.

Below is how I setup my hitting area in my training facility:

In place of my putting surface you can use a carpet runner and make sure that you have a backstop in place also.

The wrist action that I demonstrate in my two YouTube Videos is the exact same wrist action that you will use from tee-to-green. But with what I call the Palmer Technique, you can develop a more finesse-type golf shot that can become an instinctive golf shot. Your golf swing as to become instinctive to be available to you on the golf course. If you have to THINK, you won’t have it on the golf course.
