Using the baseball batter’s Strike Zone to improve the golfer’s game on the golf course by establishing the wrist action in the golf swing in a 16-inch x 16-inch x 10-inch Strike Zone. This is what golf coach’s meant by creating a compact swing.

The Golfer’s Rembrandt STRIKER ZONE App– Golfer’s App of Keeping the Golf Swing Mechanics Inside the Baseball STRIKE ZONE for Consistency

Summary of Article

If the golfer could compare and use the Strike Zone in Baseball to their golf game on the course, the golfer would develop a better golf game hitting more fairways and greens for par or better. Just by establishing a simple Strike Zone, as a batter does, the golfer can preset the wrist action in the golf swing, shown in the featured image, above. This wrist action in the golf swing allows the golfer to develop more power, acceleration, and clubhead speed with more control. The golfer wants more distance, but the golfer also wants designation as well.

The Golfer’s Baseball Strike Zone Routine

The Strike Zone Routine that is the basis of The GOLFER’S BRACHS-PALMER Technique that allows the golfer standing on the tee box to have the same confidence that the batter has standing in the batter’s box. In sports, nothing can replace the athlete’s confidence and being In the ZONE!

The Strike Zone Routine will eliminate the issues that the golfer sometimes experiences standing on the tee box or the fairway that the batter doesn’t have to deal with standing in the batter’s box. The main advantage for the golfer establishing the Strike Zone Routine is that 90 percent of the entire golf swing mechanics are established within a 16- inch x 16- inch x 10- inch depth Strike Zone, shown above in the featured image.

Significance of the Strike Zone for the Golfer

The reason that this is significant to the golfer is for two reasons- First the golfer can use the same swing mechanics that they developed as kids playing baseball. These are instinctive motor skills that we have one shot at developing, before the age of 12. Second– Is it allows the golfer to concentrate on presetting the wrist action in the golf swing within a very confined space. This cuts down on distractions of swing thoughts.

The GOLFER’S BRACHS-PALMER Technique of presetting the wrist action in the golf swing using two low threshold muscles.

Presetting the wrist action in the golf swing allows the golfer to set the two small muscles that engage all the other muscles used in the golf swing, the Palmaris Longus Muscle/Tendon and the Brachio-Radialis Muscle. These muscles/tendon are shown in the image above. These two muscles engage the rest of the muscles in the forearms, arms, shoulders, torso, and quads that generate the power, acceleration, and clubhead speed the golfer is counting on, called the kinetic Chain.

Kinesiology Applied to the Golfer’s Swing Mechanics

Applying Kinesiology to the golfer’s swing requires the golfer to set the smaller (low threshold) muscles prior to engaging the larger (high threshold) muscles. This is part of Kinesiology 101 in golf coaching. This is the reason the golfer has to preset the wrist muscles prior to engaging the larger muscles in the arm, shoulders, torso, and quads.

I demonstrate both the Strike Zone Routine and The GOLFER’S BRACHS-PALMER Technique in the following YouTube Videos. These videos were used on a local Television’s Sports Show leading up to the 2021 US Open.

This is WJTV-12 Television Promo to my Golf Swing Interview shown above

In the Home Depot Orange Bucket Challenge above, I’m using special golf balls, called AlmostGOLF Balls, that travel in feet instead of yards, up to 100- yards, where the camera crew could catch where each of my drives were landing. My drives were landing within 15- feet of the orange bucket on this football field’s End Zone. Where I’m setup at the other End Zone. If these were actual golf balls, my drives would be carrying up to 295- yards and out of the range of the camera viewing.

The Use of The Strike Zone to Create Shape Shots

The wrist action in the golf swing that I’m using in the Home Depot Orange Bucket Challenge, allows me the ability to shape my golf shots in addition to developing power, acceleration, and clubhead speed. Acceleration is important in the golf swing to impart back-spin onto the golf ball. This back-spin aids in the ball’s flight characteristics and loft.

Back-spin is performed with the radial and ulnar deviation wrist action. The golf swing always comes back to the wrist action in the golf swing. Even Ken Duke, a PGA member, did a great interview with Lisa Cornwell on his wrist action in the golf swing that was televised on Golf Channel. If you get a chance, you got to watch this interview. Even Charlie Rymer during an interview with David Duval, refer to the wrist action in the golf swing as ‘THAT WRIST THING‘.

I use the Strike Zone to shape my golf shots in how my wrists and forearm enters and exits the Strike Zone, shown in the featured image, above. In baseball, a pitcher that can paint the corners of the Strike Zone is known as a Rembrandt. I use the same Rembrandt approach to create my shape shots on the golf course and practice in my training facility.

You can practice shape shots in your garage just by hitting into a tarp. You have to think in reverse terms when you hit shape shots into a tarp. If you’re right-handed and hitting a draw, the golf ball will come off the tarp to your right based on the counter-clockwise horizontal spin (Green arrow). The amount of spin will show if you are hitting a hook or draw. The opposite applies to fades, your golf ball will come off the tarp to your left based on the clockwise horizontal spin (Red arrow).

The Reason I Use Imagery Strike Zone in my Coaching

Once the golfer steps foot onto the golf course, the golfer is relying totally on their subconscious mind where all those instinctive motor skills are located. Your swing thoughts will vanish into thin air, believe me this is a FACT. This is why golfers find it difficult to take their golf game from the practice range to the golf course.

Our subconscious responds to images rather than swing thoughts. The Strike Zone Routine gives my subconscious mind a base of operations, like being In-the-ZONE. You heard that a picture is worth a thousand words, well in golf, a mental image is worth a thousand hours of practice time on the range or in the backyard.
