The QATSPY® (Yankee Performance Sports Training & Apparel Quarters) Golf Instructions- How to take your golf swing from the Batter’s box to the Tee Box. These two swings are more similar then they are different. This photograph shows exactly how similar they are with the wrists in the Preset Position.

Sports Page: USE A DOORKNOB TO UNLOCK THE POWER IN YOUR GOLF SWING! How to Develop the Proper Wrist Action in the Golf to Hit More Fairways & Greens in Regulation

Two of the best maneuvers in the golf swing are also found in the baseball-type swing, the LOCK and UNLOCK maneuvers. When comparing photographs of the baseball swing to that of the golf swing, I found some very compelling similarities between the two in swing mechanics. With the aid of time-lapsed photography (frame-by-frame, shown below) of the golf swing and baseball swing, I was able to detect the similar orientation of wrists in the LOCK and UNLOCK Position. The hands that are located just over the right pocket during the takeaway and on the downswing toward impact. (Refer to the featured image where I transposed my baseball swing over my golf swing illustration on the left side).

A great mental image to develop in golf is using the batter attempting to hit a low sinker ball on the inside corner of the strike zone, in the illustrations above and below. Baseball announcers even refer to this as the batter attempting to hit a golf ball-type swing. This mental image allows the golfer to link in with instinctive motor skills that they developed as kids. These permanent motor skills that are instinctive; in other words, these motor skills are natural to the golfer; and can be perform without thinking.

The Baseball-Type Golf Swing to Unlock the power in your golf swing

If you were going to compare two sports with similar swing mechanics, you couldn’t even find better examples of each than the baseball swing vs. golf swing.

What is important about this comparison of the baseball swing vs. golf swing is that the baseball swing are mechanics we learned before the age of 12, so these mechanics are a part of our instinctive motor-skills that we don’t have to develop for the golf swing.

This was also part of an article in the 2016 April issue of Sports Illustrated Golf Magazine in the Private Lessons part of this issue. This was on page 140 where it describes the golf swing like a baseball swing. This was exactly what I found in my kinesiology research project that I did in 2014 that filled three Xerox boxes of data. Two boxes was labeled “THIS DOES NOT WORK;” and one half filled box was labeled with “THIS WORKS.” This box labeled THIS WORKS followed the baseball swing mechanics to a ‘T’ for the golf swing sequence.

My KINDLE Book KASPER GOLF & FITNESS COACH TECH:

The LOCK and UNLOCK Positions consist of the Sync (CAM) This is the Palm-flexion and PRESET (CAM-OVER) or Pronation. Using these two (2) key natural muscle memories, the golfer can develop the powerful and and speed needed in the golf swing with control. The Sync & Preset maneuvers places the golfer’s wrists into the LOCK Position. Presetting the wrists in the golf swing also takes stress off the mind and the lower back where most back issues occur in golfers.

The Sync & Preset also does something extremely important in the science of Kinesiology. It allows the golfer to engage the smaller (Low Threshold) muscles FIRST in order to synchronize with the larger core (High Threshold) muscles to accomplish two objectives– (1) To avoid injuries and (2) Streamline the effectiveness of the muscles to create POWER & SPEED.

When the golfer looks down with their wrists in the LOCK Position, they should see their wrists in the position below:

This shows my wrists in the LOCK Position ready to take the middle of my forearms up toward the TOP Position. HINT: Perform the Sync & Preset as slow as you can. This allows the small muscles in the wrists and forearms to sync-up with the core muscle.

The golf swing sequence of Sync (CAM) and Preset (CAM-OVER FACTOR) allows the golfer to take the baseball swing from the batter’s box to the tee box. The Preset is similar to turning a door knob to open a door; or swing the baseball bat with the left wrist if the golfer is right-handed hitting fielding practice and tossing the baseball up into the air. You perform this hitting fielding practice, you just performed 90 percent of the golf swing.

Trade in Your Golf Glove for a Pair of Kickboxing Gloves to Understand the Wrist Action in the Golf Swing

If the golfer could trade in their golf glove for a pair of kickboxing gloves just for training, they could actually see how the wristbands of the kickboxing gloves that are stack at Address Position; but are synced at the LOCK Position by just using these two (2) muscles action described above. The muscles are Palmaris Longus Muscle/Tendon and Brachio-Radialis Muscle, shown this the illustration above. The illustration below of the kickboxing gloves wristbands transition from being stack at Address to Synced at the Lock Position perfectly illustrate how the golfer wants to Preset the wrists.

But, after the wrists are Synced and Preset, the Top of each wristband are synced up with each other, this is indicated by the gold reference line, below. Below, I’m demonstrating the Sync and Preset maneuvers from the Address Position into the Lock Position (I’m right-handed):

The price tag on the left kickboxing glove is roughly where the my left Radial Styloid Process is located. The reason this location is important is this is where the Brachio-Radialis Muscle terminates and is important to the preset maneuver.

Kickboxing Gloves used to demonstrate the GOLFER’S BRACHS-PALMER TECH to place the wrist into the Lock Position. This is what golfer’s called the Preset Position

NOTE: I actually didn’t realize this until I took time-elapse photographs of these two positions and how my wristbands are synced perfectly.

I did a promo for a local television station during the 2021 UP OPEN that was interviewing local golf coaches and golfers for a segment on their sports show. They used the video below, which I call THE ORANGE BUCKET CHALLENGE, to run leading up to Wednesday before the UP OPEN aired. This shows the Sync & Preset Maneuver that I just describe above:

The GOLFER’S BRACHS-PALMER TECH is a simple golf swing maneuver where the golfer is using their Palmaris Longus Muscle/Tendon (PALMER) to Sync and their Brachio-Radialis Muscle (BRACHS) to Preset that allows the golfer to complete 90 percent of the entire golf swing. Remember the writer Henry David Thoreau who believed that the simpler the process is, the better the results will be. Something that is natural will be simpler to perform and can be repeated, time-after-time under any condition. I have labeled both the PALMER Tendon and the BRACHS Muscle in the photograph below with my wrists in the Lock Position. NOTE: BRACHS is pronounced like name of the candy maker. I just use the names PALMER and BRACHS for short.

The PALMER Tendon is visible in most people (see my right wrist) and the BRACHS Muscle attached to a nodule called the Radial Styloid Process. The Ulna and Radial Styloid Process plays key roles in the golf swing.

The following Description of The GOLFER’S BRACHS-PALMER TECH is in reference to the the right-hander, because I’m right-handed, unfortunately, I’m not Ambidextrous, or as Yogi Berra Amphibious:

If you are a golfer and want to improve your golf swing dramatically, simply preset your wristband with an imaginary pair of kickboxing gloves to CAM (Sync) using the right PALMER, just below the boxing glove wristbands. Followed immediately by CAM-OVER (Preset) the left wrist using the left BRACHS Muscle. These two (2) key maneuvers are performed about two points at the top of the wristbands called the right Ulna Styloid Process (USP) and the left Radial Styloid Process (RSP). This Sync and Preset is like setting up a golf swing inside of the golf swing.

The biggest improvements in the golf swing comes with the smallest maneuvers. In Kinesiology high performance in athletes use the lower Threshold muscles (muscles in the wrist and forearm) to activate the high Threshold muscles are (arm, shoulder, torso, and quads), the core muscles. This Kinetic Chain Technique produces more power and clubhead speed without causing injuries.

This allows the right-handed golfer to create muscle memory where the right thumb represents the clubface and the left Thumb represents the hosel of the club, for the right-handed golfer. This technique places the golf swing more into the golfer’s hands like they are swinging a baseball bat instead of a golf club. Exactly what the golfer is trying to do mentally.

This Sync and Preset maneuver provides a significant advantage for the golfer to produce power, clubhead speed and the important control. The Sync is similar to how the baseball pitcher prepares to throw a pitch (right), shown above. The Preset is similar to a baseball batter presetting their bat, or the golfer turning a door knob. At the base of each thumb is a muscle (called the Thenar) that has direct contact with the handle of the golf club. This is why the muscle memory developed in The GOLFER’S BRACHS-PALMER TECH is extremely important to the golfer.

The GOLFER’S BRACHS-PALMER TECH can even be used by batters in baseball to hit those effortless base hits and home runs.

LPGA professional Angela Stanford made a guest appearance on TheGolfFix on Golf Channel

LPGA professional Angela Stanford made a guest appearance on TheGolfFix and demonstrated how she changed her takeaway swing to give herself more power, speed and control. Angela performs a version of The GOLFER’S BRACHS-PALMER TECH of CAM and CAM-OVER her wrists. I demonstrated this in my YouTube Videos below.

Ken Duke has the same demonstration on Golf Channel with Lisa Cronwell.

I illustrated what Angels Stanford and Ken Duke called the Preset Technique in my three (3) Videos demonstrating my Orange Bucket Challenge, below:

I’m using special practice balls called AlmostGOLF Balls that travel in feet instead of yards up to 300 feet where I can use a local football field to practice my golf game and to demonstrate the Orange Bucket Challenge, shown below. This type of challenge links into the golfer’s subconscious mind.

If I was using actual golf balls, my tee-shots in this Orange Bucket Challenge would be traveling about 300-yards. Just for your reference, practice ball on your local golf range travel 75% of the distance of an actual golf ball. The following YouTube videos that the local television crew shot was used on their sports show in June of 2021 during the US Open. To complete the baseball swing mentality, I use a throw-down home plate. This is huge in training the subconscious mind.

Our subconscious mind works off mental images instead of swing thoughts. If you want to sabotage your entire golf swing, just develop swing thoughts and you’re be well on your way of sabotaging your golf swing once on the golf course.
