Impact of HI in The DELPHI DIET & FITNESS– The Health Index Weight Factor was what Turbocharged my Body’s into a Calorie-Burning Juggernaut
My Quest to Lose Weight and Get Into Shape at Age 57
Leading up to my retirement at age 57 to start my performance sports training and apparel business, I had tried to lose weight that I had gained prior to having hip surgery. The surgery was to replace my hip joint that was damaged by a rare disease called Perthes. This condition made it impossible to walk and function; much less maintain my exercise regimen and have an active lifestyle. The pain level was in the 8-to-9 zone that made even sleeping difficult.
So after I rehabbed from surgery in September of 2014, I started eating my meals between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m., trying to lose weight. I saw moderate weight lost like on most diets that I tried in my quest to lose weight. But when I started looking to when I was in my mid 30’s, when I had a waistline of 28- inches, I looked at my diet then. I ate a diet that was high in Protein, Fiber, and food that was a Probiotic.
Health Index by Evaluating Nutrition Labels
That caused me to use analytics to evaluate Nutrition Labels on food that I ate that was purchased from my grocery store and/or ordered from restaurants that I enjoyed eating at with friends. This allowed me to develop the basis I needed to determine those foods that I ate then that allowed me to turn my body into a calorie-burning juggernaut.
After I developed what I called my Health Index number, I started eating foods that had a HI that was at or below a 3.25 that I started on November 28, 2014, a Friday after Thanksgiving. This was also the day that I was interviewed by Ned Reynolds, sportscaster, with ESPN radio station JOCK 96.9 FM in Springfield, Missouri on the book I wrote, The ESPY GOLF SWING Coach. Thank goodness it was a radio interview.
The HI Factor that Turned my Body into a Calorie-Burning Juggernaut
Using the Health Index (HI), I only ate foods that had a Health Index number at or below 3.25. This allowed me to lose 44.56- pounds (or 5.75-inches) in only 8- weeks by January 22, 2015, which was my goal. But if you look at my Waistline Chart below, I didn’t stop there, I lost an additional 3.50- inches or 7- pounds for a total 8.75- inches and a weight loss of 52- pounds.
As noted on my Waistline Chart, above, on September 05, 2015, my waist measured 28.0- inches. Today, February 24, 2022, when I woke up this morning at 5:30 a.m. with my buddy, shown below, my waistline measured 29.50 inches. That is 7- years after losing a total of 52- pounds and 8.25- inches in my waist. Also if you noticed, I lost the majority of my weight and inches during the holidays.

In the featured photograph of me at our hangar in Madison, I’m 64 years old. I credit my condition to my diet and fitness regimen that I have followed since November of 2014. There is no doubt your diet plays a major part in losing weight and remaining healthy, BUT EXERCISE and LIFESTYLE are just as important. Here is why your diet is such a major player in your health and fitness, it takes between 500 and 800 calories to consume just one- pound of fat. So you aren’t going to exercise your way to weight lost, Fitness YES, but not weight lost. Especially since a Big Mac contains 563 calories, even my normal workout that is approximately 60- minutes in length, I only burn about 530- calories.
But this is where LIFESTYLE is so important to Your Health & Fitness!
I developed a mindset, or lifestyle, as I like refer to my lifestyle, to work out and stay active, even after retiring at age 57. Matter of fact, I’m busier now than when I worked as a Grid Engineer with Entergy Transmission, on call 24/7.
The main reason that I started my performance sports training and apparel business was actually to stay active, both mentally and physically. I did stop there! I was going to produce golf training videos and model my sportswear with young ladies in their early 20’s, shown above. Being over the age of 57, and now at age 64, doing videos and photo shoots places a certain demand on you to look your best. This was my purpose that I needed to remain fit and in good shape.
One of the best ways to look younger than you actually are is to eat a diet high in Protein and Fiber and workout that includes strength and conditioning. This allows your body to naturally produce collagen for your skin’s health.

As part of being a grid engineer, I used to fly aerial patrol in a rotor wing, better known as a 206-D Bell Jet Ranger Helicopter, shown above. The last month that I flew was in May of 2015. So one just doesn’t retire from that type of adrenaline to just doing nothing that is anything close to flying. So to fill the gap that I was going to experience, I bought an INDIAN Scout Bobber V-Twin 60 72- HP Motorcycle to ride, shown below.
I also play golf where I walk (~9.1 miles per round) the golf course 4- days a week when weather permitting. I also read and write sports stories and interview individuals in sports. I also maintain my website (https://espygolfapp.com) that includes my online store that is fun; but also challenging. I credit all that this for my Health and Fitness in the featured photograph and me in my home GYM.

I want to close by stating this- Even if you don’t purchase The DELPHI DIET & FITNESS System, PLEASE find a healthy diet with an exercises program and stay active. You DO NOT want to work 30-odd years doing what you have to do and then retire; and not be able to enjoy the things you want to do.
In regards to your exercises, don’t just focus on cardio and aerobic training: but also include Strength & Conditioning training. We start to lose muscle mass after the age of 30 and we continue losing 5% every 10- years after age 30. It doesn’t have to be that way, look at my results above with me in my home GYM. This is all the equipment that I use during my CASE (Cardio-Aerobic and Strength Exercise) Program. Also strength training is great for balance, falls are the number cause of death in people over 60.
For those that are experiencing sciatic nerve issue and other performance issues, I have found that my AB Roller as significantly solved both of these.
