THIS SHOULD BE GOOD NEWS FOR ALL GOLFERS & EVEN BASEBALL BATTERS! THERE IS ONLY TWO MANEUVERS YOU HAVE TO MAKE FOR YOUR NEW CONSISTENT GOLF SWING & GAME.

I detail these two (2) maneuvers in my NEW BOOK: THE KASPER GOLF & FITNESS COACH that can be downloaded from my ONLINE STORE or from KINDLE, below: THE KASPER GOLF & FITNESS COACH

KASPER was my Call Sign that I used for the title of my book: Kinetics Athletics Synch-Preset Ergonomic Routine

This book also includes how I lost over 50- pounds and 9- inches in my waistline in just 9- months, with OVER HALF of my loses coming within 8- weeks.

This was taken of me on May 19th, 2022 after we did a photoshoot for the promotion of our line of TOP GUN: Maverick Authentic G-1 Leather and CWU-45P Nylon Flight Jackets like the ones used in the TOP GUN: MAVERICK that Tom Cruise wears. I’m 64 years old in this photo soon to be 65. I dropped more than LBS. and Inches; I dropped Years off the appearance of my skin. I’m leaning on my INDIAN SCOUT BOBBER 60 Motorcycle.

Below in this article are my basic Golf Training Videos that I made including the Orange Bucket Challenge, where I hit Five consecutive 295- yard Tee Shots to within 15- foot of a HOME DEPOT Orange Bucket, Thus the Name Orange Bucket Challenge. This is a great training technique to include in your routine practice, but video tape you practice sessions to create adrenaline! Adrenaline is a missing element in most golfer’s practice sessions that WILL SHOW UP ON THE COURSE!

Breaking Down the Preset Golf Swing Wrist Action

Unless you can break down the golf swing sequence with time-lapse photography, frame-by-frame like I did for a research paper for Kinesiology Course, the average golfer might not be aware of the Preset Golf Swing Wrist Action. The preset golf swing wrist action produces power, clubhead speed, and control distance on a consistent basis from tee-to-green without the effects of downtime. If golf is your passion and not your profession, downtime is the fact-of-life.

With the KASPER GOLF & FITNESS COACH Technique, I used two instinctive maneuvers that reduces the effects of downtime on the golfer’s golf game. The two maneuvers that I use to Preset my wrists can be done as relief exercises at the office, shop, or at home. In my gym, I have a chipping area that I have setup to develop the repetitive Sync and Preset maneuvers. They are so routine that I don’t even have to think about them.

Here’s a coaching philosophy technique that any golfer must develop- If your golf swing isn’t instinctive or second nature to you, than your hours you spend working on your golf game will not make it to the golf course with you intact.

Baseball Batter’s have Already develop this Sync & Preset Technique in the Batter’s Box

The golf swing wrist action can even be detected comparing the baseball swing vs. golf swing, shown below in the time-lapse photo that I pulled from the college archives. Viewing the college sports film library, I was able to compare one of the single best side-by-side comparison between the wrist action in the golf swing to that of the baseball swing.

The major reason that this comparison is significant to the golfer is the relax and confidence in the instinctive muscle memory the golfer can crossover from their baseball/softball swings to their golf swing. The only maneuver the golfer has to develop is to synchronize the baseball-type swing to their golf swing to place their wrists into the baseball Cock and Lock Position shown below in two photographs, below. FIRST IMAGE is of me where I superimpose by baseball swing over my golf swing from the Cock and Lock Position in both. The SECOND IMAGE is the closeup of my wrists in the Cock and Lock Position. You use what I call The KASPER Golf Technique and 80 percent of your entire golf swing is completed.

Since 80 percent of the golf swing is sync and preset with the wrists right under the golfer’s nose where they can see and verify the Cock and Lock Position, this provides a significant amount of confidence to the golfer. There is no substitute for confidence on the golf course. If the problems with the golfer’s game was analyzed, confidence would be the number one issue. Ninety percent of golf is played between the golfer’s ears.

In baseball, the only thing the batter is doing is just FOCUSING on the baseball standing in the batter’s box, but in the golfer’s case they are standing on the tee box or from the fairway. That is IT GUYS! ONE IMPORTANT THING ABOUT FOCUSING- If you’re focusing you aren’t THINKING. THINKING is the worst thing any golfer can do on the golf course according to Subconscious Rule No. 9The greater the conscious effort reduces the subconscious intuitive response.

THAT WRIST THINGduring an Interview Charlie Rymer had with David Duval

Charlie Rymer refers to this preset golf swing wrist action as That Wrist Thing, during an interview with David Duval on Golf Channel in February of 2015. That Wrist Thing, as described by Charlie Rymer, is a Sync and Preset Technique golf swing wrist action that is part of the natural Sync/Preset golf swing sequence that also exist in the baseball swing.

That Wrist Thing, or Sync and Preset golf swing wrist action, was demonstrated perfectly by Nick Faldo in his YouTube video entitled The Faldo” Pre-Set Drill – Perfect Top of Backswing Position. Both David Duval and Nick Faldo demonstrated what Charlie Rymer referred to as That Wrist Thing perfectly describes the WHAT. The only thing neither Nick Faldo nor David Duval didn’t describe in their YouTube videos was the HOW.

David Leadbetter’s Golf Digest Article referring to the Similarities between Baseball and the Golf Swing

There was an excellent article written by Mr. David Leadbetter, a PGA Instructor, in the January 2002 Golf Digest Magazine entitled YOUR NEW SWING STARTS HERE, ELIMINATE YOUR TAKEAWAY MISTAKES WITH THE SWING OF THE FUTURE. David Leadbetter referenced the baseball-type swing in this article he emphasizes how it eliminates the STATIC part of the golfer’s swing by using a baseball batters technique of how they Sync and Preset their wrists, shown below.

I’m Presetting by wrists into the Lock Position with a golf club, than I superimpose my photograph of me using a baseball bat in a Minnesota Twin’s Kirby Puckett Jerseys setting my wrists to take my bat to the top of my swing. On the left I’m shown like I was swinging at a inside the Strike Zone sinker pitch.

The Preset Golf Swing Wrist Action Detailed in a Kinesiology Research Project

For a Kinesiology research project that I did, I gathered time-lapse photography comparing the baseball swing vs. golf swing. This allowed the golfer to take advantage of the similarities between the two swings. I also conducted interviews with both minor league baseball players and low-handicap golfers who stressed the wrist action in both swings. One of my interviews was with Colonel George Robert Hall, who had a four (4) handicap.

What was unique about Colonel Hall's story was that he was a Vietnam War POW, who was held at the Hanoi Hilton for seven-and-a-half years. Colonel Hall described the importance that he placed on his wrist action, or what I refer to as the preset golf swing wrist action that I describe in my book, The ESPY Golf Swing Coach.

What was unique about Colonel Hall’s story was that he was a Vietnam War POW, who was held at the Hanoi Hilton for seven-and-a-half years. Colonel Hall described the importance that he placed on his wrist action, or what I refer to as the Sync and Preset golf swing wrist action that I describe in my book, The ESPY Golf Swing Coach.

The wrist has six natural maneuvers called (1) Pronation, (2) Supination, (3) Dorsiflexion, (4) Palmar Flexion, (5) Radial Deviation, and (6) Ulna Deviation. To perform That Wrist Thing, as Charlie Rymer, was talking about, the golfer is only interested in two of these natural wrist actions called the Palmar Flexion and Radial Deviation, shown below:

Palmar Flexion
Radial Deviation

There are particular points on the lower forearm that these two maneuvers must be perform in order to set the wrists correctly into the Cock and Lock Position. This is where ergonomics are critical to the golfer.

The Sync and preset golf swing wrist action generates a tremendous amount of power that is provided by the golfer’s left wrist, for the right-handed golfer. The clubhead speed is provided by the right wrist. Isolating what provides power and what provides clubhead speed in the golf swing is critical for the golfer to understand, especially for their short game around the green. FOR THE RIGHT-HANDER– If you know for instance the right wrist produces speed and loft you want to be right wrist to be dominate around the green for those nice chip and pitch shots. Look at my Bunt-Type Pitch shot that I demonstrated in my Golf Training Facility, below:

The Bunt-Type Chip Shot

I also demonstrated a shorter version of the Bunt-Type Pitch Shot in my Rap-Type Pitch Shot, below. The only thing more impressive than a short pitch shot is a really short pitch shot that will impress your buddies more than your 290- yard drives, see my 4-Part Orange Bucket Challenge, later on in this article.

The Rap-Type Pitch Shot

Understanding the Sync and Preset golf swing wrist action in the golf swing sequence will determine the consistency the golfer will have on the golf course. Consistency is the only way the golfer will see improvement on the golf course, especially around the green. If you can’t define IT or measure IT, you certainly can’t improve IT, IT being your Intuitive Technique in your golf game. The proper wrist action in the golf swing will place the golfer’s wrists into the Cock and Lock Position, shown below:

The IT, The PALMER-BRACHS Golf Swing Technique shown in the Lock Position after Sync and Presetting the wrists.

If you want to make the most significant improvement in your golf game, don’t underestimate or neglect the Sync and Preset golf swing wrist action in your golf swing into the Cock and Lock Position. Underestimating or neglecting the Sync and Preset golf swing wrist action will make golf the most difficult sport you’ll ever play even more difficult to even to make improvements.

For the right-handed golfer, the Sync and preset golf swing wrist action drill is composed of two (2) distinct wrist maneuvers. The first maneuver is called Palmar Flexion, with the left wrist (for clubhead power), and the other wrist action is called Radial Deviation, with the right wrist (for clubhead speed). The SYNC/PRESET golf swing wrist action, or That Wrist Thing as described by Charlie Rymer, was demonstrated by both Nick Faldo and David Duval in their videos. Below I demonstrate what Charlie Rymer call That Wrist Thing in my Orange Bucket Challenge below with my driver.

A Little Background Information:

Just a little background information on my Orange Bucket Challenge: A local Television Station (WJTV-12 in Jackson, Mississippi) contacted me to see if I would be interested in demonstrating my Preset Wrist Action in my golf swing for their Sports ZONE Program leading up to the US OPEN. One concern that the film crew had during a pre-production meeting was that they wanted only using one camera set up to film the demonstration to show the video wasn’t edited. But, the other concern was that they also wanted to capture where the balls were landing in regard to my orange bucket. In other words they were afraid that they couldn’t zoom in enough to catch the landing of my golf shots with my driver.

AlmostGOLF BALL, a Perfect Practice Ball for a Football Field

I had a solution to their concern, I would use my AlmostGOLF Balls that travel one-third the distance of an actual golf ball up to 100- yards. In other words, the AlmostGOLF Balls travel in feet to determine the practice shot of an actual golf shot in yards. In the Orange Bucket Challenge, where I’m using my driver the actual distance is 295-feet that would represent a distance of 295- yards of an actual drive. This made the Germantown High School practice football field the perfect set up for this demonstration.

For me doing the three (3) Part series, the film crew made me a promo and gave it to me:

How I Learned the Sync and Preset Golf Swing Wrist Action

I learned the Sync and Preset wrist action in the golf swing from my granddad, H.Q. Boatright, an relative of P.J. Boatwright a director of the USGA. Blow is a photograph of my grandparents taken in November of 1926 while they were on their way up to Fayettville, Arkansas to announce their engagement and attend a Razorback Football game between Oklahoma State University and Arkansas Razorbacks,

H.Q. Boatright in 1926 and his wife Maude Boatright at the Rest Area that is now the Buffalo River National Park in Arkansas off U.S. Hwy 65.

Using The Game Clock in Your Golf Game

I’ve read dozens of articles about taking the clubhead straight back during the takeaway from the golf ball along the target line. Or as my grandfather, H.Q. Boatright, taught on a 3:30 takeaway path to a 9:30 follow-through, as noted below. One of the more notable articles that I’ve read about the takeaway swing appeared in the 2001 November/December issue of the GOLF Tips Magazine on page 53. This was a very good article on the basic golf swing mechanics.

How to Use the Game Clock in your Golf Game

Or as my grandfather, H.Q. Boatright, taught on a 3:30 takeaway path to a 9:30 follow-through.

This article concerns a fundamental coaching technique taught by Marshall Smith, a golf coach from Oklahoma. Marshall stated that the clubface should travel straight back along the target line until the wrist hinges or preset Radial Deviation. Until the wrist hinges is the key golf swing technique. Both of these objectives can be accomplished easily with the golf swing wrist action technique.

The SYNC/PRESET is like setting the X-factor or in your golf swing. The right wrist sets up the key muscle in the left wrist, follow by the left wrist setting up the key muscle in the right side.

If you notice, I’m using a throw-down Home Plate in my Orange Bucket Challenge, this allows my students to develop the mental image of their baseball swing standing in the batter’s box. How many time you faces the same obstacles standing in a batter’s box that you did standing on a tee box. Never.

A great method to FOCUS on and establish your SYNC/PRESET golf swing wrist action technique is image that your golf ball is setting in the middle of Home Plate (DMZ). Your objective is to use both Index Knuckles and perform a Palmar-Dorsiflex (CAMS) maneuver straight back tracking the clubhead along the target line until your clubhead reaches the back-tip of Home Plate (4) (three-quarters of the way toward the right foot).

Confidence is what controls the golfer’s adrenaline. The golf swing wrist action in the Finesse Chip and Pitch shot demonstrated above is a critical part of the golfer’s game, and it is also critical in building the golfer’s confidence from tee-to-green. What is nice about the Bunt-Type Pitch Drill is it can be performed and practiced right here the golfer practicing their putting year-round to keep the dust off your golf game.

The golfer only has to learn two (2) takeaway maneuvers from tee-to-green, without having to learn multiple golf swing techniques. Once the golfer develops the motor skills and muscle memory for the SYNC/PRESET golf swing wrist action, they have developed 90 percent of their golf swing fundamentals. The other 20 percent of the golf swing sequence is taking the handle of the club to the top of the golf swing, in what I refer to as the YAW element; and dropping the club into the slot.

One of Sir Nick Faldo’s first golf swing fundamentals that he learned as demonstrated in this YouTube video entitled The Preset golf swing technique. Nick Faldo discussed the WHAT, but didn’t explained the HOW in his YouTube video.

The Sync/Preset Elements in The ESPY Golf Swing Coach explains how to setup the classic golf swing maneuver to place the wrists into the key Lock Position. This was the same golf swing technique used by David Duval during an interview with Charlie Rymer on Golf Channel. These two Videos are probably two of the best Videos to discuss the wrist action in the golf swing.
