Like Hank Williams, Jr’s Song highlights, A Country Boy Can Survive

We’ve proven that a country guy and gal can survive hardships, depressions, wars, and pandemics over our nation’s history, that includes fighting a war of Independence. This coming May 8 and September 2, 2020, we will be marking the 75th Anniversary to the end of the 2nd World War, one of our nation’s biggest tests that we fought and won. The 2nd World War did not start when we had the strongest economy as a nation, but right during a depression and just 21-years after the 1st World War had ended.

The Greatest Generation that stepped up and won the 2nd World War by charging beaches of foreign countries, like Africa, Italy, France, Guadalcanal, Tarawa, and Iwo Jima, just to name a few. And the women of this Greatest Generation picking up rivet guns and welding machines to fight a two front war with planes, ships, and tanks. This generation supplied and fought ground and sea battles in both the Pacific and the Atlantic.

This Generation charged the beaches of Normandy, Tarawa, and Iwo Jima with unwavering commitment and bravery and facing unbelievable odds to hand this Nation, that we call America, over to other generations that these guys and gals didn’t even have a chance to even meet. The brave men and women who did survive returned home to build the greatest nation that nations over the entire world wanted to be compared themselves with and resembled.

The Men and Women of Our Great Nation, Our Proven Ground

Our mothers, grandmothers, and even in some cases great grandmothers step up to fill manufacturing jobs across this country to build weapons, tanks, ships, and supplies that our U.S. Soldiers, Marines, Navy sailors, and Coast Guard needed to fight and win the war. Were there difficulties, most certainly, and were their efforts and sacrifice worth it? Again, most certainly they were. We can’t even repay what these men and women did for us. But unfortunately they are suffering the most during this pandemic.

The Spanish Flu Pandemic

The 1st World War ended, due in part to the Spanish Flu outbreak of 1918. There was more soldiers dying from the Spanish Flu on both sides than the war itself was inflicting. In 1918, the medical field didn’t even know what a virus was, much less how to treat a virus. We have, since the 1918 Spanish Flu pandemic, made unbelievable strides and advances to actually peered into the sub-particle world of microbiology and cured diseases and infections that had laid waste to countries over the entire world. We owe our Doctors, Nurses, Lab Technicians, and Researchers a depth of gratitude. They are working long and hard hours putting themselves on the front lines of damage.

Most diseases, like Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Chickenpox, Polio, and Yellow Fever had been eradicated. But there’s one disease that is worse than all of these put together, and it is the disease of FEAR! But there is good news, as FEAR can’t survive when we pull together and search deep inside ourselves for and discover our Courage, Faith, Knowledge, Facts, and through God’s Love and mercy are able to defend ourselves and survive.

A reporter asked President Trump just yesterday (Friday, March 27, 2020) what he could tell his kids about the isolation and the pandemic that we all are going through. President Trump gave one of the best answers- Tell Them that we live in the best and greatest nation in the world.

I can’t stop thinking about Hank Williams, Jr’s song, A Country Boy Can Survive, during this period we are living through!

I would like to provide a like insight to going through challenges– Just remember the trials that I’ve been through, I was always able to find my way through challenges, not by focusing on what I couldn’t do or didn’t have, but on what I could do and how to work with others to get to accomplish our mission. I was a grid engineer with a transmission line utility in Mississippi during Hurricanes Katrina and Rita. When we were in New Orleans working on the transmission grid, we had to go in with the 101st Airborne and Black Water to provide protection for us while we restored power to the city of New Orleans.

During this time, I’m reminded of a poem by John Mitchum entitled Why I Love America. I have attached the YouTube version of this poem narrated by John Wayne and the words to this poem below. This will inspire you and cause you to look up and know that we have a God who loves us and our country.

Why I Love America

You ask me Why I Love Her?
Well, give me time. I’ll explain.
Have you seen a Kansas sunset
 Or an Arizona rain?
Have you drifted on a bayou
Down Louisiana way?
Have you watched a cold fog drifting
Over San Francisco Bay?
Have you heard a bobwhite calling
In the Carolina pines,Or heard the bellow of a diesel
 At the Appalachia mines?
Does the call of Niagara thrill you
When you hear her waters roar?
Do you look with awe and wonder
 At her Massachusetts shore…
Where men who braved a hard new world
First stepped on Plymouth’s rock?
And, do you think of them when you stroll
Along a New York City dock?
Have you seen a snowflake drifting
In the Rockies, way up high?
Have you seen the sun come blazing down
 From a bright Nevada sky?
Do you hail to the Columbia
As she rushes to the sea?
Or bow your head at Gettysburg
At our struggle to be free?
Have you seen the mighty Tetons?
Have you watched an eagle soar?
Have you seen the Mississippi
Roll along Missouri’s shore?

Have you felt a chill at Michigan
 When on a winter’s day
Her waters rage along the shore
 In thunderous display?
Does the word “Aloha” make you warm?
Do you stare in disbelief
When you see the surf
Come roaring in at Waimea Reef?
From Alaska’s cold to the Everglades,
From the Rio Grande to Maine,
My heart cries out, my pulse runs fast
At the might of her domain!
You ask me why I love her?
I’ve a million reasons why —
My Beautiful America,
Beneath God’s wide, wide sky.

I have as part of the apparel in my online store that you can shop from the US WINGS® A-2 Leather Flight Jacket that is issued to the U.S. Military. I use my jacket to promote my business and also as a Sports Jacket, due to the ability for me to be able to clean it with leather cleaners and conditioners. This provides a great barrier for you when we do return to business and to work. I also have the 2nd Amendment A-2 Rough Rider Leather Flight Jacket with patches to support your 2nd Amendment Right to bear arms.

Also, we have the renowned Nose Art artist, Jim Harley, who can paint your company, organization, or your cause on a patch that can be sewn onto one of our leather jackets. This is better than having a neon sign and/or a bullhorn used to promote your business. Just have a lot of business or postcards with you, because you will need them. These US WINGS® Leather Jackets are show- stoppers. I’m shown here with Miss US WINGS presenting our 2nd Amendment A-2 Leather Flight Jacket.
