How to Read and Use Nutrition Labels to boost your Metabolism and lose weight and inches by knowing your MPI Composite Score.

We rely on nutrition labels on products we purchase and order off the menus to provide us the ability to maintain a healthy diet and lifestyle. But we are handicapped by not knowing the MPI (Metabolic Pyruvate Index) Composite score to accurately evaluate the nutrition label to make healthy choices. You want to keep all your menu selection at or below a MPI Composite Score of 3.25.

This MPI Composite Score at or below 3.25 turns your body into a turbocharged calorie-burning juggernaut to use food as energy instead of storing it as fat that causes our weight gain and enlarge your waistline. The lower the MPI number is the healthier the selection of the menu item is to lose and maintain a healthy weight.

MPI Composite Scores over 3.25 have calories that are in Saturated, Trans Fats, starches (the hidden sugar) and other components that causes weight gain.

 

Here is a great example reason why you can’t just focus on calories, carbohydrates, and sugar content to make the best choice for a healthy meal selection. Just make the comparison between the sweet potato to that of the Idaho potato, shown below. Both are similar in calories, carbohydrates, but the sweet potato contains 7 grams of sugar compared to 1 gram of sugar with the Idaho Potato, but the Idaho potato has a higher MPI Composite Score. THERE IS A REASON FOR THIS, and here WHY:

Comparing the MPI Composite score between Sweet Potato and Idaho Potato for healthier choice and to drop weight and to also drop years off your appearance.

So just going off the sugar component you would think the Idaho potato would be the better choice, but that would be incorrect if you compare the two MPI Composite scores you will understand why the Sweet Potato is a healthier choice. The sweet potato has a MPI of 2.778 and the Idaho Potato has a MPI of 3.438. So the weight gain will be from starches in the Idaho Potato. The sugar from the sweet potato is fructose and not glucose.

Another great choice for a menu item for meals is pinto beans, with a MPI of 1.971. Dietitians consider both sweet potatoes and pinto beans to be the perfect food selections.
