Baseball-Type Wrist Action in the Golf Swing, if done Correctly Establishes 80% of the Golfer’s Swing Mechanics, the Elbows are the Final Step

The Palmer-Dorsiflex Wrist Action in the Golf Swing

I have been grounded, both flying and playing golf over the past 3- months due to the Coronavirus, or COVID-19, due to the fact that I’m over 60 years old. As getting back into a normal routine, I have done my pre-flight checkout at the hangar and have worked on my chip and pitch golf shots, until I have developed cabin fever.

Thursday I made my way to the hangar to install some avionics, and yesterday I made my first visit to the golf course to get back into the routine. I try to avoid forming doubts before going to the golf course that might negatively affect my round. but 3- months is a longtime. But laying off for 3- months, you can’t help but develop some reservations. But I remember what Colonel George Robert Hall said about long lay-offs, it’s all mental, between the ears. If you can Conceive IT, Believe IT, you should be able to Achieve IT, Colonel Hall played golf at the Hanoi Hilton as a POW for over seven years.

My Grandfather, H.Q. Boatright in 1927 at Yellowstone National Park on Vacation

My grandfather, H.Q. Boatright, drilled into my head the baseball-type wrist action in the golf swing until I could do it in my sleep. The baseball-type wrist action in the golf swing became part of my permanent motor-skills that were instinctive.

Using the baseball-type wrist action to establish the wrist action in the golf swing. Take your golf swing from the batter’s box to the tee box.

The only other component that golfer is focused on is setting their lead elbow to established the correct swing plane and drop element. Just remember the right-handed golfer’s left side is for power, and their right side is for clubhead speed. The wrist action in the golf swing is for acceleration component.

My Caddies for the Day

On the first tee box, with my wife as my caddie, she too was developing cabin fever. I usually carry my own bag, but she insisted on being a caddie for a day. As my wife as my witness, I hit all my fairways and greens in regulation to shoot a 74. I feel like most people do now after my round, as I was just glad to be here and to enjoy some pre-Memorial Day Holiday activities.

Honoring Those on Memorial Day

Memorial Day is a day we honor the bravery of those who paid the ultimate price then and now for our cherished Liberty and Freedoms that we enjoy. The Declarations of Independence might have been written in ink, but it was established with blood and sweat of our fallen Heroes that tombstone markers hold the name, rank, and war(s) they fought in for our country.

So, say a prayer for those family members and our Heroes this Memorial Day.

Thanks
