Today is World Health Day, a great opportunity to access the key indicators in achieving your overall health and fitness. These indicators are maintaining a healthy weight, blood pressure, glucose, and healthy cholesterol levels.
I depend on my health and fitness beyond the realm of just my health, I depend on my fitness for my performance sports training and sportswear business that I started in June of 2015. Managing my health is a major component in promoting my business, but my physical fitness is even more critical for me personally. In the featured image, I’m 64 years old. This was taken in our hangar after we did a photo shoot on January 18th, 2022 for our American Classic Leather Jacket Collection.
The camera crew couldn’t believe that I didn’t gain any weight over the holidays. So they challenged me to an AB Challenge that appears as the featured image for this article.
Something about photography, there is not a more critical nor unsympathetic critique of your health and fitness than stepping in front of the camera lens and lights for a photo shoot. The camera lens will highlight any fitness issues that you might have. One reason for this is that the camera lens adds about 5 to 8 pounds to your appearance.
But modeling pales in comparison in doing an AB Challenge. One of my objectives in my diet and fitness program that I started on November 28, 2014 was to be able to model my sportswear and produce training and fitness videos starting in June of 2015. That put me under the clock to achieve something that we all know is one of the most difficult objectives to achieve, weight loss and get into shape at age 57.
On November 28th, 2014, I WASN’T LOOKING at dropping just a few pounds and inches, I was looking at having to drop 45- Lbs. and 7.75- inches in just six months. I knew that this would require me to understand how our body’s work to metabolize our food, but also how to tone and strengthen my muscles in six months. For fitness, I went back to my 101st Airborne fitness days of training.
Instead of running we did in our training, I substituted a bicycle for my cardio training due to my hip replacement and 4- knee surgeries. I still did all the strength and calisthenics that we did then when I was 18 years old.
How to Turbocharge Your Weight Loss and Fitness
Six months didn’t give me a lot of time to lose my 45- Lbs. and even more significantly my 7.75- inches in my waistline. I used my past 101st Airborne basic training to lose weight by understanding that your body metabolizes food between 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., based on our natural Circadian Rhythms.
This allows your body to become a calorie-burning juggernaut on its own without any special efforts. But the real turbocharger is the Health Index (HI) factor that I introduced in my diet that allowed me to read Nutrition Labels and allow my body to process my food and burn off my fat naturally.
Here is another component you will need to take advantage of in your fitness training, by using strength training. For every pound of muscle you add to your body for those photo opts, your body burns 50 additional calories each and every day, especially when you’re asleep. So in my case I dropped a total of 52- pounds; but with strength training I was able to add half of that weight back on in muscle.
In addition to my muscles burning 1,300 calories per day, I burn 560 calories in my CASE (Cardio-Aerobic Strength Exercise) workouts sessions 6- days per week.
I used my Chemical Engineering background to incorporate these components into The DELPHI AD DIET & FITNESS System that allowed me to drop 8.75- inches off my waistline that represents 52 pounds. Below is my actual Waistline Chart that I kept from day ONE. I will let the featured photograph and my chart speak for themselves.
SUN RAYS & COLD WAVES
We all enjoy spring time to get out and enjoy the sun to tone up a little and the fresh air. But the sun’s rays have another important feature as it relates to our health and fitness. The sun rays reduce the fat in our cells that are just under our skin and shrinks the cells’ propensity to store fat. Most of us just get some sun as a way to tone our skin not knowing it tones up our body, as well.
Because I have darker tone skin, I usually get at least 20-minutes of sun exposure 3- days per week. The sun’s rays tone the body that would take a tremendous amount of fitness to obtain. What’s great about toning under the sun is you relax just by taking in some rays. Your safe exposure to the sun’s rays has multiple other benefits than just a nice tone-on-tone.
Here’s an unusual way to use cold packs in toning one of the most difficult areas, your abdominal area. We all are too familiar with stubborn belly fat that takes months and extensive workouts to firm up abs. Here’s another way to alter your white fat and convert it into brown fat that your body can readily digest to where you can do a AB Challenge, even at the age of 64.
What is nice about the last two fitness techniques of Sun Rays & Cold Waves are that they are considered recovery techniques where you just relax and enjoy some downtime. Who wouldn’t want some downtime and improve your fitness by doing it. One of the best makeovers you can get yourself is to get fit and tone.
