Nothing Beats the Classic Look of Our Safari Cockpit Chino Khaki Pants

Introducing Our Safari Chino Khaki Pants that are a part of our Safari Cockpit Collection that our U.S. Military have worn for decades in wars and that Indiana Jones made a part of his expedition wardrobe. We all recognize the Chino Khaki Pants and the A-2 style leather bomber jacket that Dr. Jones wore on his archeological expeditions. That same style can be yours with that charismatic look that pilots and navy aviators had climbing out of their cockpits after their missions.

The Safari Chino Khaki Pants have a traditional fit and feel that are just as comfortable with a Spandex waistband as they are universal in their look and wear for all of your occasions from a sporting event to business travel, to even the scrutinized modeling in front of the camera lens as I do. You can’t ask for a blend of cotton (62%), polyester (36%), with a Spandex waistband (2%) can provide.

NOTE: All Dimensions are in inches in the waistline x inseam.

The perfect inseam length is one that gives you a quarter break at the hemline. I’m 5ft – 6in and I take my hemline up one-half-of-a-inch for that perfect look. I taught myself how to sew in order to take up my hem. REMEMBER Looks and proper fit is everything.

Chino Khaki Pants held up under the rigors of Dr. Indiana Jones adventures and challenges that Dr. Jones had to comfort on his expeditions that took him to the far reaches of civilization. You might not have to travel to the far reaches of civilization on your business or leisure travels as did Dr. Jones; but you are prepare for those adventures that awaits you.

But with the special blend of 62% Cotton and 36% Polyester with 2% Spandex for a comfortable waistband so that you can deal with the rigors of your travels and daily activities in comfort. You can still travel and maintain that stylish look and confident feel as if you stepped out of Gentleman’s Quarters. I taught myself to sew where I could have that quarter break at the hemline that I like to have. A lot of the history of these pants has to do with the name khaki, which is a Hindu word connected with the British expeditionary forces’ uniform stationed in Burma and India.

History Behind the Tan Color Cotton Pants

British soldiers that were serving in Burma and India in the mid 1800’s found it particularly difficult task trying to keep their white trousers clean during their weekly duties. These white trousers hadn’t changed since the American Revolutionary War of the early 1800’s. The soldiers decided to adapt by taking a mixture of tea with the native soils and developed a mixture to dye their white trousers to a tan color to hold up to wear of their duties and for providing concealment, or camouflage while on patrol.

The Indians soldiers referred to the tan color pants in their native language, as word khaki. The name stuck describing the color of the fabric. Most militaries adopted the khaki color for their uniforms that is still being used today like in desert areas and in the in navies. While khaki in some cases described both the color and the fabric, it was Theodor Roosevelt’s Rough Riders that gave the khaki color fabric its name that is almost as notable as the term khaki itself.

Since the cotton fabric that the U.S. Military used for their soldiers uniforms during the Spanish-American War was imported from China, the U.S. Soldiers refer to the fabric as Chino. Chino is a French term for China.

Not only does Chino Khaki Pants have a classic traditional look and fit, they have a rich and long history dating back to the mid 1800’s. Very little has changed with the design or fashion of the Chino Khaki pants that is similar to the classic 1963 Chevrolet Corvette that sets the standard for sports cars even today, a 1963 Stingray Corvette is shown in the feature photograph. This was taken on August 12th, 2023 in our hangar where we did the photoshoot for our 2023 Cockpit Collection. These pants come in a variety of waist and inseam sizes similar to how your favorite blue jeans are sized with waistband and inseam sizes.

If I not wearing my blue jeans to work around my farm or in my welding shop, I’m wearing my Chino Khakis for both business and leisure occasions traveling and around town, like attending football games that I write about in my sports and fitness articles. The multiple of combination of shirts and jackets worn with Chino khaki pants are endless that can also worn with your favorite blue jeans.
