Veterans the Blood, Sweat, Tears of our Freedom to Pursue Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness; these Men and Women are Our Nation’s Treasure
It is stated that The Pin is Mightier than the Sword. But it takes blood, sweat, and tears with muscle believing in abstract concepts written on paper with pen and ink into the realm of certainty and factual existence.
The ink used by Thomas Jefferson transcribes the fundamental concepts that We hold these truths to be self evident that all Men (and Women) are created equal with certain unalienable Rights of the People that consist of Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness. The word unalienable describes rights that CAN NOT be taken away by men, women, or government.
Veterans Are Those that Have Fought and Are Fighting for Others
My uncle, who joined the U.S. Army during World War 2, explained to me the raw feelings among GI’s who hit the beaches of foreign lands and dropped behind the enemy lines while trying to rationalize the sacrifice of their and their buddies’ blood, sweat, and tears were sacrificing. So much carnage in Europe and the Pacific regions.
It was when he and his buddies liberated the concentration camps that they realized exactly what they just sacrificed their blood, sweat, and tears for. Our Veterans discovered people that were singled out because of their beliefs and their heritage that met the fate of these horrendous concentration camps.
Veterans paid the price where we have the freedom of association, religion, speech, press, and to protect our way of life. Veterans fought against where lists were kept of people that didn’t conform to a certain philosophy. We even fought a Cold War grounded in these same principles where black lists were kept on people.
Veterans have defined our Freedoms and stand their posts today, carrying on the same commitment that formed the Declaration of Independence and our U.S. Constitution.
