The Holistic Benefits of Honey for Health: Health benefits of foods listed in the Bible to improve your overall age-defying health/lifestyle. Major part of health is Diet based on WHEN/WHAT to eat & Cardio-Aerobic Strength Training Fitness
YOUR H2O approach to treating your Neuropathy
In addition to using olive oil at bedtime and onions at 2 p.m. to improve my overall health and fitness, I now have also included Honey with my daily diet during the day. The Trifecta of olive oil, onion, and honey are used to address inflammation not just in joints and muscles but also with the nervous system and integumentary system, this includes your skin, hair, nails, and overall health.
Onions probably are the most effective means to treat my Neuropathy than any single holistic measure that relieves my symptoms of tightness and discomfort in the lower back, back of my legs and calves. But the most challenging symptoms are numbness on the bottom of the feet and balance issues.
If you have issues with Neuropathy, consider using H2O of Honey, Olive Oil, and Onions to relieve your symptoms that I have done, successfully. There is nothing like having an onion on an old fashion hamburger with Dijon Mustard and a little amount of Hickory sauce. I will write follow up holistic articles in regard to Neuropathy that developed after my battle with Stage 2 Prostate cancer in March of 2024.
This article deals with the tremendous benefits of consuming honey to maintain nerve health as we age. I have recently had nerve issues manifesting itself in tightness and discomfort in the lower back, back of my legs, and calves, with numbness on the bottom of my feet. These symptoms developed after my battle with Stage 2 Prostate Cancer, early part of March 2024.
Before I get into the benefits of honey for nerves, I would like to highlight how I used honey for my allergies during the spring and fall seasons. Local honey, mississippibees.com, along with Acidophilus, are great ways to build up your immunity to pollen. But I would like to highlight another use of honey, and that is for nerves issues, like neuropathy.
Holistic Approach to Your Health
My first approach to my health issues is a holistic approach first with lifestyle changes to my diet and my fitness workout. The body can respond more naturally with a holistic approach and lifestyle changes rather than with treating issues with prescription drugs that can have side effects. Health and fitness starts with diet being the big influence in maintaining an age-defying lifestyle.
While at a cocktail party on Thursday (05Dec2024) to celebrate the engagement of our neighbor’s daughter, I came across a person that suggested using honey to treat nerve issues. So I did some research Friday morning (06Dec2024) on the benefits of HONEY as it pertains to nerve health. What I found was an entire novel of benefits of honey on our health and particularly nerves health, that I have listed below.
On Saturday (07Dec2024, Pearl Harbor Day), I started incorporating honey into my diet outside just for my allergies into my coffee/hot tea. I also added honey on my natural peanut butter on whole wheat as my breakfast sandwich, breakfast of champions. What was surprising was that I started having relief from my neuropathy symptoms by Saturday afternoon. My symptoms have decreased in just 4- hours by 45% from Friday where I was dealing with the numbness and balance issues.
Cause of Neuropathy can be the result of a previous case of shingles, surgeries, diabetes, alcohol, or other nerve damage. I have had shingles and 10- surgeries so a combination of these two issues might have led to my neuropathy.
Temporary Exercise Relief
Along with my exercises that I do in my gym 6 times a week at age 67, I have used my fitness to address my neuropathy, I have made some improvement with my fitness approach. But when I started consuming small amounts of honey (not to exceed 4 Tablespoon per day) was when I saw significant improvement. The honey that I incorporated into my diet has improved my status far more than any other measure to address my neuropathy up to Saturday 07th, 2024.
My fitness only offered some improvements, but then again it goes back to weight loss, 80 percent of your weight loss is tied directly to your diet. For those that are making New Year’s Resolutions to lose weight and get into better shape next year should follow a diet based on WHEN and WHAT you eat.
I confirmed the benefits of WHEN and WHAT I ate back in November 28th, 2014, when I devised my diet based on WHEN I ate (9 a.m. to 6 p.m.) and WHAT I ate (food with a MAC score at or below 3.25) by my weight that I lost, a total of 9- inches in my waist. The MAC score is based on 9- data points on the Nutrition Label, shown above. Below is my actual waistline chart that I use to chart my progress.
The research that I did reveal the following:
The Benefits of Honey
Honey still should be considered an added sugar in your diet, but with a multitude of nutrition benefits like vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, that including flavonoids and phenolic acids, as noted below:
Breakdown of flavonoids:
heart health: Flavonoids may help reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease and prevent blood clots.
Brain health: Flavonoids may help protect the brain and prevent dementia, plaque buildup.
Cancer prevention: Flavonoids may help prevent cancer development and gene mutations.
Diabetes: Flavonoids may help improve insulin resistance and manage inflammatory processes that can lead to diabetic complications.
Anti-inflammatory: Flavonoids have anti-inflammatory properties.
Antioxidants: Flavonoids are antioxidants.
Hormone balance: Isoflavones, a type of flavonoid found in soy and other legumes, may help keep hormones balanced
Breakdown of phenolic acids:
Antioxidant: Phenolic acids protect the body’s tissues from oxidative stress.
Anti-inflammatory: Phenolic acids have anti-inflammatory properties.
Antimicrobial: Phenolic acids have antimicrobial and antifungal properties.
Antidiabetic: Phenolic acids may help lower blood sugar levels and reduce the risk of type 2 diabetes.
Anti-aging: Phenolic acids may help with anti-aging.
Cognitive health: Some studies suggest that higher intake of phenolic acids may be associated with better cognitive health.
In-depth of Anti-inflammatory:
Anti-inflammatory in honey helped treat my joints, muscles, and in my case my Neuropathy. Honey also contains flavonoids, and polyphenols, which can help reduce inflammation and fight infections. This has been a tremendous help to me personally to treat my lower back and calf tightness and discomfort, and numbness in my feet that causes imbalance issues.
For someone that is still active in my welding shop and aviation, I can now work on my farm, in aviation, in my welding shop, and play golf without symptoms of neuropathy. Below are other benefits from consuming honey:
Healing burns and wounds
Cough Suppressant
Turbocharge the Immune System– Antioxidants help to strengthen the immune system and protect cells oxidative damage and promote cell strength with repair and cell replacement.
Diabetes Management– Stabilizes sugar levels
Gastrointestinal health– Maintain a healthy active gastrointestinal tract and balance out acid-forming foods. This also helps in maintaining regular colon function.
HONEY a Natural sweetener– That can be used in place of other sweeteners but is natural that can be used by the body as an anti-inflammatory, help manage sugar levels, gastrointestinal health, and other benefits as listed above. It is important to remember that honey still counts towards your daily added sugar totals to not exceed 4- Tablespoons per day.
Don’t Neglect Your Fitness
In the photograph above, I am 67 years old. I use my diet that is high in protein, fiber, Omega-3, probiotics, and complex carbs but low in added sugars; with regular fitness in my gym to maintain my age-defying health and fitness. The biggest part of having an anti-aging appearance is that it is based on your diet and incorporates strength training. Strength training allows the muscle to release a critical growth hormone that contains collagen. Collagen helps by maintaining age-defying joints and healthy looking skin. Honey helps to balance hormones.
An age-defying healthy lifestyle has to consist of both diet (80%) and fitness training (20%) with emphasis on strength training. Both diet and fitness are combined to reduce and avoid painful and stiff joints as we age to also help avoid diseases and maintain a healthy waistline and age-defying appearance. Next to the health of your skin, your waistline is second that people notice.
I model my line of ACE Sportswear where I appear with models almost one-third of my age. This is probably one of the more challenging components of my line of work at age 67. My diet and fitness has given me the ability to model with young models in their mid-to-late-20’s.
Eighty percent (80%) of your health and fitness will be based on your diet. This has been a huge crusade by Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. that has been appointed Health Czar to the Department of Health & Human Services. If RFK Jr. did nothing else, he has done one important thing, RFK Jr. has turned our attention as a country to what is in our diet consisting of preservatives and unhealthy food additives.
At age 71, RFK Jr., not only highlighted the importance of our diet, but just as important our fitness. Right before RFK Jr. announced his bid to run as an Independent for President back earlier this year, there was a video showing RFK Jr. doing pushups with his shirt off wearing blue jeans. At age 71, he is in great shape doing what I call an AB Challenge:
Diet, Fitness, with Active Lifestyle
Healthy diet, fitness, and remaining active are critical to achieving an age-defying lifestyle where you can enjoy your life, at all stages of life, including retirement. Think of your diet and fitness as your 401(k) plan; but you’re investing in your health and fitness. This type investment has the best returns than what Wall Street can offer you, near 600% return.
With New Year’s Day fast approaching and we are in the middle of the Holidays celebrations, you can take action now to start losing weight and inches in your waistline. As I mentioned earlier your best approach to your diet is based on WHEN and WHAT you eat (by keeping your food selection MAC score below 3.25) just by reading 9- data points from the nutrition label, shown above.
My actual waistline chart, shown above, that I started keeping on November 28, 2014, indicates that I lost from 37.75- inches down to 33- inches in just 4- weeks. I lost a total of 6- inches down to 31.75- inches by February 27, 2015. For ten years as of November 28, 2024, I have maintained a waistline of 29- inches at age 67.
I now chart my waistline by fitting into my 30- inch waistline khakis and blue jeans and still have a one-inch gap in my pants. Below is my MELIORA Diet & Fitness Plan that in on KINDLE along with my other books:
