Baseball Swing Vs. Golf Swing Fundamentals- How to Develop the Proper Wrist Action in the Golf Swing from Your Natural Baseball Swing Action

What made your baseball-type swing simple and natural can be used to simplify your golf swing as well. The Palmer Preset Technique allows the golfer to take their golf swing fundamentals from the batter’s box to the tee box.

If the golfer could approach the golf swing as if the golfer had a bat in their hands, their entire golf swing could be patently obvious and be made significantly simple, consistent, and repeatable.

When Major League batters take batting practice using a tee, the biggest advantage the batter has is that the bat is in their hands, and the only focus is the ball at their waist. The batter’s mechanics are so instinctive that the batter doesn’t even think about their swing. The Palmer Preset Technique APP allows the golfer to relate the golf swing to their hands, instead of trying to manipulate the clubhead at the end of the shaft.

One paradigm shift that the golfer has to make in their golf swing is the handle of the club isn’t the bat, as in the batter’s case. The handle of the shaft represents their forearms. The wrists and hands are the clubhead and clubface. This is the reason the golfer has to concentrate on presetting their wrists. By simply presetting the wrist action in the golf swing sequence, the golfer is essentially using the baseball-type swing for their golf swing.

The major advantage of comparing the wrist action in the baseball swing vs. golf swing allows the golfer to take an advantage of two instinctive wrist maneuvers that most of us as kids learn before the age of ten (10). This means that there is NO swing thoughts needed,  you just need to convince that the subconscious mind to apply these maneuvers to the golf swing in an instinctive golf swing sequence.

Probably one of the best coaching quotes in golf was from the movie Caddyshack– Ty Webb- played by Chevy Chase mentioned to Danny Noonan- played by Michael O’Keefe–

I’m going to give you a little advice. There’s a force in the universe that makes things happen. And all you have to do is get in touch with it, stop thinking, let things happen, and be the ball.

What does this Quote mean:

Make things happen– Use the golfer’s subconscious mind to execute the golf swing, as this is the FORCE.

Get in Touch with IT– IT is an Instinctive Technique.

Stop Thinking– HERE’S AN IMPORTANT CONCEPT- The golfer might very well practice their golf swing using their conscious mind, THINKING. But, I can guarantee the golfer this one thing, that when they step onto the golf course, they will be relying totally on their subconscious mind.

So the golfer’s primary objective is to properly train using their subconscious mind, based on Visualization, Feel, or finesse, and getting Reps VFR in the backyard or in a training facility. The golfer will have to create the mental adrenaline like they will experience on the golf course for their training sessions to be effective on the golf course.

   

The Missing Link in Your Golf Swing

The wrists are the missing link in the golfer’s game, based on presetting one tendon in the wrist called the Palmaris Longus Tendon, or what I call the Palmer Tendon, shown above, that allows the wrists to be preset into the Lock Position, shown in the kickboxing gloves in photograph Right.

If you want to understand the significance of presetting the wrists and the Palmer Tendon, just look at a pair of kickboxing gloves that I use in my golf lessons. The kickboxing gloves provide visuals to students at both the Address and the Lock Positions before taking the handle of the club to the top of the swing. The photograph on the right shows my kickboxing gloves after I have preset my wrists into the Lock Position. The gold line indicates one part of the syncing mechanism.

There are two wrist actions that preset the golfer’s wrists for more power and consistent golf swings.

The more visualization you can add to your golf swing training sessions, the more effective your training will be on the golf course where it counts. Your subconscious mind doesn’t associate your training practice with your course performance.
