A Self Dampening Kettlebell Boxing Bag– Self Dampening 15- Lb Soft Kettlebell provides Stability for a Solo Workout like having a Spotter. This also can be used with Kickboxing where I personally do various Kicking Maneuvers in my Workout.
About 25- years ago, I developed an interest in boxing, so much as, that I included a boxing bag routine as a significant part of my workout program, not just for the physical benefits alone, but for the mental and spiritual benefits, as well. A boxing bag workout is truly a full body workout; surprisingly for the mind and spiritual components as we have discovered. I have four 2-minute workouts on the bag during each of my workout routines that I do six times a week in my gym.
I had the pleasure of knowing Brother Paul Holderfield, Sr. that was the pastor of Friendly Chapel Church of the Nazarene located in North Little Rock, Arkansas. What is special about Friendly Chapel is that they have a mission that serves the special needs of the community. One particular program that Friendly Chapel has is a program that awards scholarships to teens that wouldn’t have the opportunity to attend either a Votech Schools or colleges.
They say that Education is a key to the success of an individual. That being true, the Friendly Chapel scholarship program is a Master key to these teen’s success that benefits all of us.
Brother Paul Holderfield, Sr. was a former boxer that competed before becoming a pastor. Boxing is a great exercise element to add to your program for a full body workout! Please visit the Friendly Chapel Church of the Nazarene website where Brother Paul Holderfield, Sr. son, Brother Paul Holderfield, Jr. has taken over the mission work for his father.
This is why I cover and write about sports and fitness in how it is a significant component of our physical, mental, and spiritual lives. Sports brings all people together for a common theme, compete in a spirit of sportsmanship.
My Self Dampening Boxing Bag Workout Routine, ROCK STEADY
I recently purchased a 15 Lb. BIONIC BODY Soft Kettlebell that I rigged up under my 80- Lb EVERLAST Boxing bag to provide me with a self dampening effect for stability. Majority of my workouts are early in the morning where I work out by myself in Mojave Oasis QATSPY® GYM.
Look particularly how the Soft Kettlebell lags the boxing bags that I’m working out on in my Mojave Oasis Gym. This provides a huge advantage for me to not have to have a spotter.
The self dampening is like having a spotter on the bag during my bag workouts that includes various kickboxing techniques where part of my workout includes sidekicks, Turning kicks, hook kicks. I have four 2- minute rounds scheduled during my regular workouts.
The Self Dampening BIONIC BODY Soft 15- Lb. Kettlebell provides stability to my 80 Lb. boxing bag where I can continue my workout in rapid session without waiting for the bag to stabilize and not having to have a spotter on the bag. I like to keep a high intense pace during my kickboxing elements during my MACS (Metabolic Aerobic-Cardio Strength) Workouts.
The kickboxing provides me with a full body workout that includes Plyometrics (jumping) exercises. When I mention full body– I’m referring to mind, body, and soul. The bag workout provides me with the ability to meditate and improve my cognitive functions. Physical therapists are using boxing to treat both Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s diseases. Rock Steady is one of these organizations that is using boxing to treat Parkinson’s patients.
I focus on studies and treatments that are being used for Parkinson’s patients because of the prevention it provides against cognitive impairments. Another component is to workout with music that has been found to help Parkinson’s patients, as well.
I like music when I workout to relieve the boredom along with using bricks in my renovation that I did in my gym for environmental relief. The mind associates brick with outdoors. Look at the best backdrops in photography, they include brick like old Train station type brick. Most bars and restaurants have interior brick.
Still Working Out at Age 66
Even at 66– years old, I still get up at 05:30 a.m. and hit the gym at 6:30 a.m. after having my first cup of my special blend coffee to elevate my metabolism and to wake up to start my day.
I probably made one of the best investments by converting the area above my photography studio into my gym in 2019, right before COVID hit. Physical fitness is one of the top immunity you can have for a whole host of diseases, including COVID; and the big 4- Cardiovascular disease, hypertension, diabetes, Cholesterol. If you want to have your every own Fountain of Youth, just workout with weights.
Working out with weights allows the muscles to release a natural growth hormone into the bloodstream that the body can process into a collagen for the youthfulness of your joints and age-defying ski. Again, I’m 66 years old in these photographs. I had such great success with THE MELIORA DIET, Health, & Fitness Program that I’m able to model with our models in their early 20’s. Below, is one of our models, Heather, that is in her early 20’s.
Diet with fitness also provides immunity in slowing the ravages of the aging process and in some instances even reverse the aging processes. In the image above and below, I’m 66 years old doing a photoshoot where I’m modeling our Safari Cockpit Collection that includes the G-1 Leather Bomber Jacket, Button-down Logo oxford shirt, and our chino khaki pants.
With the Results from my Diet and Fitness, I am able to Model at age 66
After the photoshoot, above, I did an AB Challenge in our hangar on August 12th, 2023. This AB Challenge was taken right after our photoshoot for our winter collection of the Safari Cockpit Gear, shown toward the end of this blog.
Best Thing that I Learned besides Welding was sewing
When I used my military nylon straps to sew the suspension straps for the under hung BIONIC BODY Soft Kettlebell on my boxing bag, I developed an appreciation for those ladies that sewed our fall protection harnesses that we used in our line work. One of the enjoyments that I got as Fall Protection Chairman with Entergy Mississippi Services was visiting the various manufacturing facilities around the country that made our fall protection equipment.
I was the Grid Engineer for ENTERGY Mississippi where I worked in Transmission Lines that I worked before I retired after 33- years, shown below. I’m the one in the middle testing out a Horizontal Lifeline that I developed. Every chance I got, I enjoyed working with my line crews.
Below is a 115kV Line that crosses the Tallahatchie River, near where Billy Joe MacAllister jumped off the Tallahatchie Bridge. This line was energized, or what we call HOT WORK.
