Land of the Free & Home of the Brave– Atlanta Braves Proved how Important it is to Remain the Land of the Free and Home of the Brave
Let me open my article with this statement that I will explain later in this article-
The best revenge is success, because you don’t have to apologize for success, you don’t have to explain your success, and you don’t have to lower your standards in your pursuit of success.

The Best Blueprint for Life is Sports
Sports has longed provided the best blueprint to develop our society’s moral fiber and character, and especially for our youth. What we learned from sports is the ability to include and incorporate other players’ ideas and concepts. Just by playing sandlot baseball, football games, or pick-up basketball games on half courts in driveways, we learned to develop leadership and cooperation between individuals in building team concept. There’s nothing better that the band of bothers and sisters that are formed under a team.
We have always turned to sports as our pathway through life’s adversities with focus, discipline, and relying on the perseverance, true grit, and resiliency that sports teaches and demands of us. It isn’t the case of IF adversity will occur in our lives, but more of the case of when it will occur and how will we respond to that adversity.
In sports, the game doesn’t always go as planned, with bad calls that don’t go your or your team’s way. But it is our ability to remain focused, disciplined, and to persevere with true grit and resiliency through the adversity that will allow us to have the best opportunity to achieve our ultimate objectives.
Even the Apostle Paul couldn’t avoid the indispensable lessons that sports provides us in life to convey His message. Competition of sports provides the framework for us to pursue our dreams and goals. Sports is best played without allowing outside influence or distraction taking us out of the game. The Atlanta Braves’ 2021 season has been a great example of not letting outside influence or distraction derail their game plan.
Like I wrote in my book, The ESPY Golf Swing Coach, conditions change, but our objective always remain the same, to compete to win.
Poetic Justice for Atlanta Braves
When the MLB Commissioner, Rob Manfred, pulled the MLB All-Star Game from Atlanta, Georgia in 2021 and moved it to Denver, Colorado, it was supposed to have been economic boycott to Georgia. Even the media and pundits underscore that Commissioner Rob Manfred’s decision would have negative economic impact on Atlanta, in the neighborhood of $17 million.
Despite all the adversities and distractions that MLB’s office put in the way of Atlanta Braves, the Atlanta Braves not only made up for the economic boycott. Atlanta hosted the NL playoffs postseason games with the LA Dodgers, and they also hosted the AL Houston Astros for two of the 2021 World Series games. I believe that more than made up for the economic boycott of the 2021 All-Star Game. In retrospect, How can you compare one All-Star Game to two Play off games and two World Series Baseball Games. I believe the Atlanta area made up for a horrible decision by MLB.
That wasn’t all that the Atlanta Braves received for a horrible decision by Commissioner Rob Manfred. The Atlanta Braves received what is called poetic justice, when Commissioner Rob Manfred at the conclusion of game five in Houston, Texas handed the Atlanta Braves Manager, Brian Snitker, The Commissioner’s Trophy. Shakespeare couldn’t even write a better ending to what is called poetic justice than this.
So what was all of this economic boycott about by the MLB– State officials in Georgia decided to bypass the Georgia Legislators and revised election laws for COVID-19 Pandemic leading up to the 2020 elections. The U.S. Constitution requires the state’s legislators to revise laws governing elections. When Georgia Legislators did revise their election laws, as prescribed by the U.S. Constitution, the MLB decided to protest with a boycott of pulling the 2021 All-Star Game out of Atlanta.
U.S. Constitution Section 4. The times, places and manner of holding elections for Senators and Representatives, shall be prescribed in each state by the legislature thereof; but the Congress may at any time by law make or alter such regulations, except as to the places of choosing Senators.
So the Best Revenge is Success
You’ve heard the saying about revenge- Revenge is best served cold. That means, don’t let your anger and temper boil over and take you out of your game. Instead, channel your anger and temper to motivate and improve your focus and determination.
If you wanted a story to prove that the best revenge is success, the Atlanta Braves’ story is what dreams are made of. You got to love the irony of this story.
Let me provide some characteristics that it takes to have this type of success in dealing with adversity in your life- Be prepared for adversity, train hard, condition yourself (mind & body), and develop a purpose with patience and persistence of never giving up the pursuit. And let your performance on the field, court, or course speak the loudest and for itself.
Congratulations to both the Mississippi M-Braves and the Atlanta Braves on winning your championship seasons. You proved that, even with adversity, you can still be successful without compromising your principles.
