Never Underestimate Newton’s 3rd Law in Golf- States that for every action (of force) in nature there is an equal and opposite reaction

After I got home from the golf course Thursday (17Jun2021), I was watching the U.S. Open on Golf Channel where they were discussing Bryson DeChambeau’s concept that he had concerning his golf swing technique and sequence. He had the idea of keeping his wrists cocked right through what I call the strike zone.

Some golfers refer to this as creating lag, or not releasing your wrists too early, during the downswing sequence. Newton’s 3rd law of motion ties directly to a topic in my book, The ESPY Golf Swing Coach, and directly to the golfer’s swing sequence. Pay close attention to the part of Newton’s 3rd law that states Equal and Opposite reaction. If the golfer wants to see significant improvement in their golf game, this statement is essential to understand.

So what does the term EQUAL and OPPOSITE reaction mean to the golfer and their golf swing?

For every element set up in the golfer’s takeaway sequence, there is the same exact element in the downswing, but in the exact reverse order of sequence. So if the golfer wants to create lag in their golf swing, then the golfer wants to Sync and Preset their wrists right at the first part of their takeaway swing. This is where The first shall be last and the last first comes into the golfer’s game. You might have heard this before.

Take Your Golf Swing from the Batter’s Box to the Tee Box

If you watch the batter’s during the College Baseball World Series that is going on right now, you’ll see the batters presetting their wrists naturally, not even thinking about it. Not thinking about IT will be key a component for the golfer to perform their golf swing on the golf course. The golfer’s swing has to be instinctive to work out on the golf course.

I recently made a video entitled Orange Bucket Challenge (OBC) where I stated that your best golf swing that you can develop was taken from the batter’s box to the tee box; please view my short video below:

Why lag is important to the golfer is that it creates that power and clubhead speed right at the moment of impact, in the strike zone. You’ve undoubtedly heard that timing is everything, and this is also true in golf and baseball, as well. The impact point of the downswing is exactly where the golfer wants to release all the power in the form of torque and clubhead speed.

The lag that I’m demonstrating in the OBC is what I refer to as the mini golf swing, the ability for the golfer to Sync and Preset their golf swing. Or what could be called the golf swing inside of the golf swing. The technique of Syncing and Presetting the golf swing is shown in the image below, where I superimposed my baseball swing over my golf swing to show the similarities between the two swings.

I took a Kinesiology course where my last project was to compare the golf swing to the baseball swing and identify similarities between the two swings that golfers could take advantage of existing instincts they developed before the age of 12 as part of early childhood develop.

The Mini Golf Swing, The Golf Swing inside the Golf Swing

The Sync is a wrist maneuver referred to as Dorsiflex, and Preset is a wrist maneuver referred to as Pronation of the golfer’s wrists. These two maneuvers combine to form 80 percent of the golfer’s entire golf swing. The Sync and Preset maneuvers are instinctive and are the missing link in the golfer’s golf swing.

Sports Psychologists use the term muscle memory to help improve their students’ performance. What they are actually referring to is their students’ ability to use their instincts that they developed during early childhood development. These instincts were developed before the age of 12. This is why playing sports is so important to kids’ development.

So the golfer’s missing links are actually two instinctive muscle memories that most kids developed by playing sports, like baseball, swinging the bat. There are two Trigger muscles that the golfer can focus on to dramatically improve their muscle memory. The first muscle memory consists of a muscle/tendon that doesn’t get nearly the attention that it should, called the Palmaris Longus muscle/tendon.

The Palmaris Longus muscle/tendon key trigger muscle in the golfer’s golf swing.

This tendon is visual in most people. It links the golfer’s wrists with their elbows, arms, and core muscles. This Palmaris Longus muscle/tendon is responsible for transferring the power from the golfer’s core muscles.

The second muscle memory is a muscle that creates the golfer’s speed for creating torque, or the turbocharger, as I like to refer to this maneuver. This muscle is one of the most unique muscles in the human body, called the Brachioradialis muscle, and it is responsible for both supination and pronation of our wrists and flexing, or bending, the forearm at the elbow.

This is what I’m demonstrating in my Orange Bucket Challenge, using the Sync Trigger Preset D-PRO Golf Technique. The Sync Trigger Preset D-PRO Golf Technique will allow the golfer to hit more fairways and greens in regulation with consistency.

To prove the effectiveness of The Sync Trigger Preset (STP) Technique, I developed The STP D-PRO Golf Technique. I use a regular 5-gallon Orange Bucket to demonstrate the OBC below, where I must get 4-out-of-5 golf shots within 10-feet of my orange bucket. In this OBC, I’m hitting what would be a 295- yard tee shot with actual golf balls.

A Part of these three (3) videos will be aired on WJTV-12, a local CBS Jackson, Mississippi television station during their Sports Zone program. I never miss Sports Zone that is aired each Sunday night at 10:20 p.m. until 11:00 p.m. with Noah Newman, Blake Levine, and Hailey Hunter. I would like to thank Germantown High School for allowing me to use their practice football field. It was what us linemen would call a Bluebird Day. Thanks to John Conway, Jacob Lanier, and Scottin Williams for hitting this weather forecast on the nose in early June with cool temperatures and low humidity in Mississippi!

I would like to also thank Zack, Chris, and Chris for putting this ad together and helping me shoot this.

Please use the link below to download your STP D-PRO Golf Technique:

Also, the golf balls that I’m using are called AlmostGOLF® Balls that travel in feet, instead of yards, that also have the similar ball flight characteristics of an actual golf ball.

The orange bucket is 295-feet from my home plate that represents a 295- yard tee shot. These AlmostGOLF Balls don’t cause any property damage or injuries to people or pets. So you can turn a vacant field into your own golf course and not just get practice time in, but actually perform like you are on the golf course with adrenaline. Adrenaline actually etches your golf swing into your subconscious mind.

I carry these AlmostGOLF Balls in my Online Store: Both the STP D-PRO Golf Technique and AlmostGOLF Balls make the perfect Father’s Day Gift.
