How to TKO Neuropathy with Fitness/Diet– After battling Stage 2 Prostate Cancer, I developed Neuropathy that my Fitness & Diet has relieved. I got back into my gym on my boxing bag & diet to treat my symptoms of Neuropathy after just a day.

Please read this if you are dealing with Neuropathy like I’m having to do after my battle with Stage 2 Prostate Cancer. DO NOT take Neuropathy lightly, it can in some cases lead to amputation of the feet, Neuropathy is nothing to mess with just like diabetes or cancer isn’t–

I have listed some specific exercises that I do daily that have helped me deal with my Neuropathy to eliminate tightness in my calves and numbness in my feet with balance issues. At age 67, I didn’t want to jeopardize my active lifestyle that I enjoy, even working on my farm and in my welding shop and playing golf.

How to TKO Neuropathy with Diet/Fitness–

After my recovery from my Stage 2 Prostate Cancer in June of 2024, I got back into my gym doing my MACS-T Metabolic Aerobic-Cardio Strength Training. Metabolism (M) represents my diet that I have followed since November 28th, 2014 that has helped me fight the ravages of aging; and now especially Neuropathy.

If you have or know someone that has Neuropathy that you are aware of, please forward this article to them that has helped me deal with the discomfort, pain, and inabilities to maintain my active lifestyle, especially from the numbness and balance issues. This article might just help them out to remain active and enjoy an active lifestyle.

Impact of Neuropathy on One’s Life

Neuropathy is a debilitating medical condition that severely restricts one’s active lifestyle, especially if you have an active lifestyle like I have, even at age 67. I’ve evolved in aviation, farming, golfing, working in my welding shop, and covering sports. All these involved being able to have mobility and being on your feet. I started developing Neuropathy by June of 2024 that has gotten only worse to a point not being able to even stand for a long period of time and losing balance.

It wasn’t until last June of 2024 that I was able to get back into my welding shop and gym that includes working out on my boxing bag that consists of three- 3- minute rounds. My bag workout is a part of my normal routine that also includes strength training and Yoga. These decreased some of my Neuropathy symptoms including numbness in the feet. But what really helped was the following specialized exercises:

Straight Legs Lifts

Please purchase a pair of 5- Lb ankle weights.

I place a pair of 5- lb ankle weights on each of my ankles and lie down on my bench press bench with both feet on a stool. In between doing 10- bench press reps with dumbbells (45- Lb), I do 10- straight leg lifts as I rest between bench press sets. I raise my legs to about 10- inches above the bench then hold them and then spread my legs apart, as far as I can, and hold for 5- seconds. I do 10- reps leg lifts between each of my bench presses. This is great Compound Exercise and a form of X-Training.

Hamstring Stretch

While laying on my bench and feet on the floor, I sit up to place an elastic resistance tube handle under each of the balls of one feet. Then I lay back on my back and place tension on one of the tubing while raising that leg as far as I can and hold for 20- seconds, extend the toes upward at the top position. Then I lower my foot back onto the floor. I do 10- reps with each leg before changing legs and repeating the process.

Heel Pivot

Before I get up from sitting on the edge bench, I keep in place the same handle of both elastic tubing handle under the balls of my feet and with both heels on the floor I extend, by pivoting at my heels as far as I can, rotating my toes away from me. I place tension on the tubing while pivoting back-and-forth slowly about my heels. I do 10- reps with both feet.

Calf Raise

I use my chin up grab bar that I installed in my gym to where my fingers can just curl around the bar. In between three sets of 10- pull ups or chin ups, I perform 10 calf raises where I lift up my heels off the mat that I’m standing on like performing a ballet maneuver, I hold for 20- seconds. I do 10- reps between my pull-ups or chin ups. I usually do 30 chin ups or pull ups.

NOTE: You can do the same calf raise using a countertop in your kitchen, table, or desk and follow the same process above of raising your heels and holding for 20-seconds.

The Benefit of consuming Sauerkraut

But the real significant improvement dealing with my Neuropathy came after I got back consuming, of all things, sauerkraut that I keep in my refrigerator where I have a tablespoon after each meal. Sauerkraut is a great probiotic for the gut and anti-inflammatory for those of us that have joint issues. Sauerkraut also helps with male dysfunction that occurs after a Prostatectomy.

Later on in November of 2024, I started including some boxing bag workout like I did before my Prostate Cancer, I do some kickboxing routines, as well. After I got more strength and flexibility in my pelvic floor muscles (Bulbospongiosus and Ischiocavernosus), I got back into my full MMA-style workout. What was surprising was the combination of my boxing routine and sauerkraut along with my special exercises, listed above, I have practically eliminated all my Neuropathy symptoms.

Ladies boxing bag workout isn’t just for guys, you can benefit from it as well:

Some of the Neuropathy symptoms like I stated are tightness and discomfort in the back of the legs and calves with numbness in the bottom of the feet that leads to balance issues. It is almost like you can’t feel your feet guys and gals.

The numbness and balance were the significant issues working on my feet on the farm, in my welding shop, playing golf, and flying. I did not want to give up being active; and like any engineer worth their degree, I went about trying various nutrients and exercise routines to address my Neuropathy.

Conventional Therapy Methods for Neuropathy

Some of the conventional therapy methods for Neuropathy include yoga like Warrior Pose 3, Downward Dog Pose, Bridge Pose, and Chair Pose, that have some effect. They provided some relief after several weeks. But my significant and immediate relief, I’m talking hours guys and gals, surprisingly came from my special exercises, listed above, sauerkraut and getting back into my full-MMA routine that I did before and now after my Prostatectomy in February of 2024.

Again, I had some benefit from my bag workout and my yoga, that I mentioned previously, but it wasn’t until I started the special exercises, and getting back on my sauerkraut that I was able to eliminate the symptoms of my Neuropathy. Combination of sauerkraut and my full MMA workout helped with my numbness and balance problems within a day.

Any golfer or someone that works on their feet, like in a welding shop, will tell you numb feet and balance issues are career ending issues and limits your lifestyle activity. I had to find some therapy to relieve my Neuropathy symptoms to be able to enjoy my active lifestyle that keeps me engaged with my health.

My Special Exercises

I started back eating sauerkraut and doing my MMA and my special exercises, listed above, on Saturday, November 23, 2024, and the next day, on Sunday, all my symptoms were gone. I was even able to work on my farm and go ride at our stables on Sunday afternoon, shown in the featured image. I was able to walk with my dog, work on my farm, and in my welding shop without any symptoms of tight calves, numb feet, or balance issues that caused me to take breaks a stretch this last past week.

Holistic Approach should be Your First Option before reaching for Prescriptions

I encourage people to find a Holistic and fitness option to address health issues first before relying on medications to treat your symptoms. I especially encourage people over 35 to start thinking about how they can improve their health just by walking first, then start developing a Metabolic Aerobic Cardio Exercise Strength Training (MACES-T) -style routine. And GUYS get your PSA Test done at your next Physical. That is right, I mentioned Physical!

In the featured image, above, I am 67 years old. If you want the best anti-aging routine to turn back the years and even decades of your appearance, use probiotics and proteins with strength training; because these trigger your muscles to release an essential natural growth hormone that contains collagen to replace and rejuvenate your skin, especially at night.

Guys and gals, I was out in the elements working first as a project engineer on the bridges in the Florida Keys in 1981 and later as a grid engineer for 35- years, before I retired at age 57. The photograph below was taken the last week that I worked in 2015 as a Grid Engineer.
