This is dedicated to Joe McKnight, a very close friend, and welding instructor,who taught me how to weld. To me personally, there’s nothing that has transformed the American Economy more than steam engine, (and later the Diesel engine), electricity (power grid) and welding. Welding replaced the riveting process.
If there were ever a self-made man, I fit the bill. I was illiterate until the age of age 11, when I decided to teach myself how to read, write, and perform mathematics, and my life changed in one summer of 1968. This was mainly due to the Apollo Moon Mission in 1968, I’m what some would describe as an Autodidact, a person that possesses the ability to be self-taught.
I didn’t fit into the modern day education system. Once I learned to read, I couldn’t even put down the writings of the classic thinkers, historians, and writers of the 18th century. My favorite writer was Henry David Thoreau, hands down. He was also a favorite of John F. Kennedy, who was a Democrat, in name ONLY!
With hard work, both working on a dairy farm while attending home school until high school, I was able to attend college and receive a degree in Civil Engineering by attending night classes while working, building bridges and later transmission lines. The hard word ethic that I developed wasn’t an obstacle, but actually a motivator to provide me with self-determination and perseverance, of never giving up on myself. I call this a Bulldog mentality.
I had more people to tell me what I couldn’t do, including high school counselors, than to encourage me with what I could do. Your ability to succeed is yours, and yours alone. Don’t wait until someone hands you what you want, as it won’t happen that way. And what you get is what you work for, not what you’re given! This doesn’t fit into today’s philosophy. BUT IT WORKS!
One significant economical philosophy that I would advise those asking how to achieve America Dream is to take 15% of your income and invest in a mutual fund, earlier the better using direct deposit from your employer or on your own. You are investing in the America Future.
What Makes America’s Working Class the World’s Best in Class, Our True Grit of Blue Jeans, Khaki Shirt, and the Leather Flight Jacket Spirit
We, as Americans, despite the odds that we face, we get up each morning with determination and with perseverance and put on our blue jeans, khaki shirt, lace up our boots, and grab our leather flight jacket to build on the America Dream. We tilled the land, planted crops, raised cattle, built bridges, highways, power lines, and the skyline of cities. We lived by the creed that sates- Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.
It doesn’t matter that our task might seem difficult and hard and even sometimes impossible, but that is the very definition of our fiber and perseverance that obstacles we face build experience and the success that we enjoy builds confidence. In life, there’s no substitute for either perseverance, experience or confidence and self-determination, as neither of these aren’t cheap to acquire, but come at the price of disappointments and setbacks form time-to-time.

We are now the minutemen of the Revolution in today’s times and events that unfold. We will protect our right to self-determination at all cost. We will bear arms to defend and protect our freedom from domestic or foreign forces that wish to take away our individual rights. We are the men and women that fought on foreign soils in World War 1 and 2 to reestablish liberty and freedom to free people that fight against Tyranny and people that want to impose their well on others.
We as minutemen, Not only fought against imperialism of a King, but we fought against the Southerns Democrats that maintain slavery that was in contradiction that We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.
We respect the opinion of others in order to bring about a better understanding into our ways of life. We believe that Bearing Arms gave to us the Freedom of the Press, Speech, and Religion that are our sacred rights. That none of our life’s work has any significance, if we don’t have the right to Bear Arms in order to protect and secure our family and property.
We also are free because there are no limits to expression of our thoughts and ideas in the quest to pursue our way of life, where knowledge, experience, and confident are as precious as either silver or gold. We know that the true accomplishment in our life is to leave our community and country better than the day we started our pathway that was blazed by those that came before us.
We are not a shame of the success that we earn by our hard work and our God given talents. We hold true to our beliefs and principles that has sustain us through both difficult and prosperous times. We are humble but we are proud of our way of life. Our achievements aren’t measured by others, but by our own potential. We don’t yield to restraints that others place on us in achieving our dreams. The only limitation we have are what we strive each day to eliminate. We consider our work essential and honorable. We all are a part of the International Brotherhood of Essential Workers.
We, the silent majority, approach our responsibility, not as a burden but as a duty to provide for our family without fanfare or recognition. We consider it enough of a reward just to earn a paycheck, and just enjoy our morning coffee and have a glass of ice cold tea or cold beer in the evening to mark the end of a long day on the back porch. We just want to be able to have the ability to enjoy the fruits of our labor, get in our truck, Jeep, or on our Indian Motorcycle and just enjoy the open road of God’s Nature.
If I can fulfill this simple way of life, I would consider my life of True Grit of blue jeans, khaki shirts, boots, and a leather flight jacket as a life well lived, and just to catch glimpses of the dream we all are working toward. This is a simple way of life, but meaningful to us, because of the True Grit of faithful that we sweat is rooted in each day that makes this life worth living.
