George Washington’s position on the 2nd Amendment to the Constitution of the United States

Washington’s Position on Our 2nd Amendment Right to Keep and Bear Arms

A key part concerning our vote is being aware of the party’s planks in their platform. It is essential to know about and understand their position concerning the 2nd Amendment. This one plank will determine the party’s position on how they view all of the other rights that we have and enjoy under our Bill of Rights.

This plank not only reflects the party’s position on the 2nd Amendment, but also reflects their lack of understanding of why the 2nd Amendment is important to securing our Liberties and Freedoms. The War of Independence that was fought, like places at Valley Forge and Trenton, was not fought only by militia, but by an effective and a resourceful armed citizenry, referred to as Minutemen.

These Minutemen were composed of farmers, merchants, lawyers, and other professionals that when called on, grabbed their rifles and handguns to join the fight against a foreign power, the British, a Monarchy. The Monarch isn’t subject to the will of the people, but can actually deny the rights of the people to self-determination.

View of Our form of government with that of George Washington in his following quote:

A free people ought not only be armed and disciplined, but they should have sufficient arms and ammunition to maintain a status of independence from who might attempt to abuse them, which would include their own government.

The Minutemen who fought for Our Freedoms

The Revolutionary War wasn’t the only time that these Minutemen were called on to secure our Liberty and freedom. In the War of 1812 (Alamo, Spanish-American War), these Minutemen were called on to protect and secure our Liberties, Freedoms, and Sovereignty. One reason that these Minutemen were called upon was that they were well adept in the use of firearms.

Especially the Minutemen from the western frontier, like Oklahoma, Texas, Arizona, and New Mexico, these Minutemen were well adept at riding horses and firearms. The Spanish-American War was the first time that a smokeless gun powder Krag bolt-action 0.30 caliber Carbine was used.

In view of the Minutemen, George Washington’s quote above didn’t only want the American people to bear arms, but also be well-trained in their firearm and have ammunition to defend themselves, and their community, and property.

Former Vice President Joe Biden, The Point Man on Gun Control

Vice President Joe Biden, during his recent really in Texas, appointed Beto O’Rourke, who was a Democrat candidate for President, as his point man on gun control. Beto O’Rourke during a Democratic Debate platform was to confiscate AR-15’s and AR-47’s.

These two rifles operate on the same platform as a common semi-automatic deer rifle, like the Remington Model 750 Woodmaster, 4-round capacity 30-06. The only difference between these platforms of the AR-15 and the common deer rifle is the capacity, between 4-rounds and 10-to-15 rounds.

The question is how Beto O’Rourke, who at this rally, didn’t know that the AR-15 platform was used as a deer rifle by hunters. If I were protecting my person, family, home, community, or property, I wouldn’t want to be limited by the capacity of my rifle, compared to the intruder. Even the common revolver has a six-round capacity.

Do you really want to hand over one of our Bill of Rights to a party that doesn’t even want to support the Founding Fathers (The Framers) intent of the 2nd Amendment?

I would like to bring to the attention of those wanting gun control that we have tried that before, it was called the 18th Amendment, or Prohibition that prohibited the manufacturing, distribution, and the sale of alcohol in the United States. This lead to the worst organized crime period in American history with moonshine, bootlegging, and unsafe alcoholic beverage being sold and consumed.

Any Amendment that is pasted by Congress, signed by the President and then ratified by at least 2/3rds of the states will only effect law abiding citizens. Just like Prohibition, the 18th Amendment, didn’t stop the criminal element from distributing and selling alcohol, any gun control will not make us any safer.
