Take This Opportunity to Lose Your Weight– During the Holidays Our Mind isn’t Considering Losing Weight Until Making New Year’s Resolutions

But why not get a jumpstart on losing weight and getting into shape?

I probably picked the worst time to start a diet back in November of 2014, in my late-50’s, but I had an epiphany in October of that year that dramatically changed my perspective of my health and fitness. I had an interview with an ESPN radio station in Springfield, Missouri about my book that I wrote on the golf swing of the future.

Ned Reynolds with JOCK 96.9 FM interviewed me on his radio show, The Sports Reporters, during October of 2014 and I had photographs taken with Ned. The camera offers one of the most brutal unfiltered perspectives of your health and fitness that you can ever have. Nothing escapes the critical eye of the camera lens.

Without knowing, I just created my INCENTIVE to lose weight and get into shape that I was in during my mid-30’s. There are four (4) things that everyone needs to make a change in their life- Everyone needs to have an INCENTIVE, a PURPOSE (your objective), a MEANS, and METRICS. If you can’t measure it, you certainly can’t achieve it, whatever IT is.

I had already Established a MEANS in my Mid-30’s with STPD

My means was a diet that I had followed in my mid-30’s when I was in the best shape I was in since my high school days and in the U.S. Army. I referred to my diet, then, as STPD, or Sweet Potatoes, Turkey, and Pinto beans Diet, these are considered perfect foods. The other component that was a part of my health and fitness was that I ate before 5 p.m. because I rode my bike after 6 p.m. I had a waistline then of 28.50- inches that I wanted to achieve again at age 57.

After my mid-40’s, I gained weight due to two knee and right hip injuries that caused me to receive a medical discharge from the U.S. Army in my mid-20’s. The pain that resurfaced in my early 40’s made it impossible for me to workout as I did in my 20’s and 30’s. Over the next 15-years, I gained 45-pounds and 9.50- inches in my waistline.

  

Why Change Something that Works, but I had First to Quantify why STP Worked

With my Chemical Engineering background, I started looking at nutrition labels for clues that I used in my 20’s following my STPD that worked so well back then. I wanted to replicate it again, but now in my mid 50’s.

Reason being that I wanted to get back into shape, I had plans on retiring in June of 2015 at age 57 to start a sportswear and performance company. I was going to even model and produce exercise and training videos to be posted onto my website that people could use to get into shape. This just became my PURPOSE.

I was able to pull nine (9) components from the standard nutrition label, above, on foods products or off websites to replicate my STPD to lose 45- Lbs. I used my analytics to develop a formula that became what I call the Health Index (HI) factor. I started using the Health Index to evaluate my food that I could eat between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. I only ate items that were at or below a Health Index of 3.25. What happened next totally surprised me!

What Happen next was Simply Amazing

I was able to start exercising after two knee surgeries and a right hip replacement in late October of 2014. Then next, I started my DELPHI DIET on November 28, 2014, this was a day after Thanksgiving. Not exactly a great time to start a diet right during the start of the holiday season. But within eight (8) weeks, I went from having a waistline of 37.75- inches down to 32- inches that represented losing 45- Lbs, refer to my waistline chart, below:

By June of 2015, when I retired to start my sportswear and performance business, I had a waistline of 30.78- inches. That allowed me to do something that I could only dreamed of before, I started modeling my sportswear collection with young models a third of my age, in their early 20’s, as shown in the featured image. Below was a photograph taken in June of 2015 when I conducted my last aerial patrol in a 206(D) Bell Jet Ranger with a 30.25- inch waist.

This was taken the last aerial patrol that I flew in May of 2015 before I retired from Entergy to start my Sportswear and Performance business in June of 2015. This is a 206-D BELL Jet Ranger that we used to fly aerial patrols in.

But I wasn’t Through Losing Weight Just Yet!

From June to September of 2015, I lost an addition 1.75- inches down to a waistline of 28.50- inches where I’m at NOW 7- years after I retired in June of 2015 at age 57. See my Waistline Chart.

No doubt, I dropped the weight, but I also dropped something else that I was totally surprised of, I dropped about 30- years off the look and condition of my skin. At age 65, I had skin that I had in my late 20’s and early 30’s. I later found out WHY my skin looked younger- John Tesh had a research that he read on his radio show that stated that eating past 6 p.m. interferes with the body’s natural ability to repair and rejuvenate the skin during the night, while we are sleeping.

This was taken on November 05, 2022 at our airport with a Boeing Model 70 Stearman that landed for refueling.

Can you imagine getting a spa treatment at night while you are just sleeping. That is exactly what you are doing by NOT eating past 6 p.m. Nothing ever good happens to you eating past 6 p.m.  

You couple not eating past 6 p.m. with exercises that allows you to activate what are called Fibroblast Natural Growth Hormone receptors that are connective tissue that are just under the skin. Fibroblast releases collagen and growth hormones to nurture and rejuvenate your skin. I just wasn’t quite expecting having skin that I had in my early 30’s in my mid-60’s.

What exercise does for your muscles, exercises also does for your skin to repair, tone, and firm up your skin for that younger-looking skin. So fitness allows us to drop weight, but even more important, drop years off the appearance of our skin.

Below, is a photograph that we did on August 13, 2022, after we did a photoshoot for our winter collections of our leather flight jackets. I did an AB Challenge, shown below, for my diet and fitness book that is on Kindle. Most diet programs are more than willing to show the weight their participants lost, but how many are willing to show the years that they have lost off their skin and their fitness that they have achieved at age 65? I enter into evidence exhibit “A”, below.
