I just completed writing and published a new e-book on Kindle entitled: The Sports Bible The Yellowstone Papers that takes a look at the Bible from an athlete’s perspective. There is one verse that caused me to take a different perspective of The Bible that coaches and athletes could use to improve their sports performance, on and off the field.
In the English Standard Version (ESV) of Deuteronomy 29:9- Therefore keep the words of this covenant and do them, that you may prosper in all that you do. What caught my attention was- that you may prosper in all that you do. All that you do applies to the athlete’s ability to perform on and off the field, in regard to reaching an athlete’s full potential. I have used over 14- Bible verses that directly impact the athlete’s performance and build Sportsmanship. There isn’t a better model to use for success than sportsmanship references in the Bible. This is a must READ!
The cover of my book is of my grandfather’s photograph in Yellowstone National Park in 1927, because his notes on scriptures from The Holy Bible were what I used to develop his coaching concepts of this book. A number of verses from the Bible that I was able to use from his notes and fill what he taught me was how I wrote this book, based on my grandfather’s coaching concepts. He used verses from the Bible that could be directly applied to an athlete’s performance, both on and off the field.
