CASTER (Cardio-Aerobic Strength Training Exercise Routine)

Just modeling over the age of 40 is very difficult enough; but over 65 is challenging if you don’t keep in shape and have an age-defying diet and fitness program. This gives me the ability to model with models in their late 20’s and mid-30’s.

Guys and gals, it isn’t the gray hair that you have to be concerned about, matter of fact, that graying can actually work for you being mature and having confident look. Even the gray hair in the Bible is evidence of wisdom, confidence, and experience. But what is critical is the waistline and age of your skin even if you don’t model.

Proverbs 16: 31-32

Gray hair is a glorious crown; it is found in the ways of righteousness. (32) Patience is better than power or strong muscles, and controlling one’s emotions, than capturing a city.

I can handle my graying hair and gray beard, that is a natural aging process, but what is the main issue in photography is aggressively aging of the skin as a result of damage and the bulging waistline that is career ender. Damage, aging skin and bulging waistline can be detrimental to any career; and especially to a person’s health and fitness. Unhealthy and damaged skin and bulging waistline can lead to cardiovascular disease, diabetes, and contributing to other health risk factors like skin cancer for both men and women.

How To Determine your Healthy Waistline

In regard to your waistline, an easy and simple way to determine your healthy waistline is based on taking one-half of your height in inches. For example my height is 64- inches, than my healthy waistline should be 64/2 = 32- inches. Actually my waistline is 29- inches, because I model and the camera adds to your waistline. This is the reason a photograph provides you with a better assessment of your health and fitness than even a mirror can that you get accustom to seeing.

 

Healthy Skin and Waistline is More than just Vanity

Healthy skin and waistline are more than just for vanity reasons, but for a physical and mental health factor for all of us, even kids, teens, and especially older adults. Healthy age-defying skin is evidence that a person is following a healthy diet and fitness program that includes strength training, and using proper skin protection. Always wear sunscreen and UV/UB rated sunglasses.

I wear my Ray Bans everywhere I go, including activities outdoors including working outdoors, especially in the cockpit flying to protect my eyes and the delicate skin around my eyes. The eyes have it when it comes to defying your age. Just look at the ads on television of the products for around your eyes to reduce wrinkles like crow feet and puffiness under the eye.

Just because your work takes you outside as my did, being a grid engineer for a utility for 35- years, welding, and working on my farm, you still want to protect your skin and eyes. It is important to use sunscreen and eye protection with UV/UB rated sunglasses. The delicate skin around your eyes can cause you to look years older than you actually are or want to look.

Health Waistline and Age-defying Skin Starts with Proper Diet, Fitness, and Lifestyle

November 28th, 2014, I started my diet and fitness program that I devised that I was able to documented my process and results in my book entitled The MELIORA Health & Fitness Program. I have a background in Chemical Engineering along with my Civil Engineering Degree. What I achieved in just 4- months (just 18- weeks) would be a success, but what I was able to achieve in December of 2014 would be considered a significant achievement in anyone’s book, especially over the age of 57 at the time.

I managed to lose 32- Lbs and over 6.50- inches in my waist between 28Nov2014 to 02Apr2015. My diet was based on WHAT and WHEN I ate and the CASTER Fitness Program that I followed. What was even more significant just during the month of December of 2014, in just 4- weeks, I lost 4.74- inches down to 33- inch waistline and lost 26- Lbs. right during the Holidays Season, see my Waistline Chart below. This is the ultimate test of a diet and fitness program under the most extreme conditions, dieting and working out during the Holidays.

As I was dropping my Inches and Pounds, as noted in my Waistline Chart above, I was noticing that I was also dropping something totally unexpected at age 57 during 2015. I was dropping not just years off the age of my skin, but actually dropping decades off the age of my skin following my specialized diet and fitness program. By September 05th, 2015 at age 58, I had dropped a total of 52- Lbs, 9- inches off my waistline and about three decades off my age.

A major test of any diet and fitness program isn’t the weight, inches, and years you dropped, but the weight, inches, and years you manage to keep off over the years, now I am about ready to celebrate 10- years on November 28th, 2024. I submit into evidence my AB Challenge photograph above taken in September 2017 after a photoshoot we did.

This gave me the ability NOW even 10 years after I started my MELIORA Diet and CASTER Fitness Program, to still be able to model my ACE Sporty Cockpit Collection, even with women in their late-20’s at the age of 67 as shown in the featured image. How many diets and fitness programs out there that could allow you to drop your weight, inches, and even decades off your appearance of your age of your skin and keep it off?

Triple Play of Diet, Fitness, and Lifestyle

DIET the WHEN Factor

Your diet accounts for 80 percent of your ability to drop weight, inches, and years off your appearance that includes your skin. A major part of my diet is based on WHEN I ate between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. This 9-to-6 period is when your body can metabolizes your food at the most effective rate, with 2 p.m. being peak time for the body to metabolize your food. This is why we need a snack around 2 p.m. to boost our energy. Just make sure it is a healthy snack, like peanut butter on a spoon for an example.

You remember Brad Pitt in the movie Meet Joe Black, Brad Pitt enjoyed having Jif Peanut Butter on a spoon in the kitchen with the staff. I love peanut Butter for my morning breakfast and my afternoon snack. High in plant based Protein, Fiber, and a good source of monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats, and low in added sugar.

John Tesh Radio Show 

I am a big John Tesh listener to his radio show, Intelligence for Your Life, where in 2015, John Tesh referred to eating meals between 9 a.m. and especially not eating past 6 p.m. This period has several health benefits for a whole host of reasons including: lowering one’s blood pressure, blood glucose, cholesterol levels, and weight lost.

But the biggest benefit of eating before 6 p.m. is that it doesn’t interferes with your body’s natural ability to repair and rejuvenate itself while we are sleeping, this especially includes rejuvenating your skin. Eating past 6 p.m. interferes with this natural process of rejuvenating your skin. So Sleeping Beauty is actually a FACT and not just a fairy tale!

Eating between 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. is nothing to be dismissed or ignored, as John Tesh highlighted on his radio show, but will be your biggest health habit that is easy to follow. You do have to get accustomed to the new eating schedule that will take a couple of weeks to do, especially not eating past 6 p.m.

 

DIET the WHAT Factor

The WHAT turbochargers your body allowing it to burn fat and especially the stubborn belly fat even at my age of 58 for energy. The WHAT Factor in The MELIORA Diet accelerated my weight loss, just refer to my Waistline Chart above, just for the month of December of 2014, it is pretty impressive.

I was able to turn my body into a turbocharged calorie-burning juggernaut based on WHAT I ate between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. The WHAT Factor allowed me to select the proper foods from my grocery store and off menus at restaurants to lose weight. The WHAT I ate allowed my body to burn my food as energy just by using the standard nutrition label.

I went from 37.75- inches down to 33.00- inches right during the Holidays of 2014 and I still managed to lose 32 pounds during this time. Mind you, my goal was 32.00- inches (my healthy waistline), that meant I was one- inch away from my goal just within one- month; and that month was December. This is exactly what you are expecting and want from a diet, encouragement and results.

How to Read Nutrition Labels

How to read the standard Nutrition Labels to drop your weight, inches, and years off your appearance.

The key to WHAT is knowing how to read and use nutrition labels to eliminate the harmful fats (unsaturated and trans fats) that are listed, as shown above. But your real major culprit are your hidden sugars, those pesky simple starches that aren’t listed on the label. This is something you need to know in order for you to drop your weight, inches, and years.

Without this essential piece of data, of those starches, this will interfere with your ability to drop your weight and inches that will be severely hampered. If you ever have found it hard to lose your weight and inches over the years, this is your main culprit, those STARCHES.

The problem also with nutrition labels along not listing the simple carbs are the healthy fats (Monounsaturated and Polyunsaturated) aren’t listed either. These health fats are essential for your digestion and cognitive functions. These are your Omega-3’s and 6’s fats which assist in healthy looking skin, by reducing inflammation caused from natural skin wear and tear with some damage that occurs to us all from time-to-time.

Not All Calories are Created Equal

You can’t just go just by how many calories are on the nutrition label alone, because all calories ARE NOT created equal, you need to know what the calories are composed to reach your health objectives. This WHAT factor allows your body to burn your food as energy instead of storing your food as fat. There are only two methods your body can process your food: burn your food as a source of energy or store your food as fat. I don’t have to tell you which option that you want.

Some calories are burned as energy more easily than others, this is what you want to occur in your diet. While still other foods are stored as FAT, something you diffidently DO NOT WANT, especially during the holidays! The MELIORA DIET will allow you to read nutrition labels as shown above noting one of the most perfect foods, pinto beans. Pinto beans are great for your diet, because they are below the score of 3.25. Pinto beans have a score of 1.972.

The closer to a score of 1.00 a food has the better and healthier your food is, take for example the JIF Natural Peanut Butter1.96, you would make George Washington Carver happy. This was the reason why the SUGAR BUSTER Diet was effective to some degree back in the 90’s, just look below and compare the healthy sweet potato that SUGAR BUSTER highlighted compared to the Idaho Potato, below:

     

But, SUGAR BUSTER could have dramatically improved their results if they would have included the WHEN Factor that John Tesh discussed on his radio show. I knew about the WHEN factor back in 1986 when my work schedule had me working four- 10’s and I was eating between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. but I did not realize the reason for my weight lost then.

Even though the sweet potato contains more sugar (7 grams that is fructose); even dietitians consider the sweet potato to be the perfect food source. Even actors and models include sweet potatoes as a major part of their diets for rock hard Abs getting ready for a film role or photoshoot. I know that I have my share of servings of sweet potatoes along with Pinto Beans with my meals over the years.

      

Just keep in mind that your diet accounts for 80 percent of your overall health and fitness. Your fitness and lifestyle accounts for the other 20 percent. This is why if you just focus on working out in the gym after the New Year starts, you don’t see the results that you were looking for or wanted. This is why people give up on their New Year’s Resolution by mid-February. Start instead focusing on your diet, as well, you will see better results if you use the right diet.

Fitness for your Triple Play

Your Fitness usually gets the lion share of the attention that ONLY accounts for 20 percent of your overall health and fitness. You can prove this by making a New Year’s Resolution and just sweating it out in the gym for weeks and only seeing minimum to NO results, focusing on the 20% Factor. This is the reason for that lack of results.

The Holidays are fast approaching with New Year’s resolutions that will be made to lose weight and to get into better shape as being the No. ONE Resolution made. But before you go out and start hitting the gym for long hours per week, just remember 80% of your results will be your diet.

But DO NOT neglect your fitness for a multitude of benefits listed below:

1.       Tone and strengthen your muscles, joints, and even your skin.

2.       Condition your body where you can stay active as you age, even in your 70’s or older, I’m 67.

3.       To maintain your balance and cognitive functions especially boxing bag workout that is a total body workout, as shown in the feature image.

4.       To Provide you with a natural growth hormone that includes collagen to your skin for one of the best reasons, age-defying skin treatments you can get.

5.       Sweating removes and detoxes your body including your skin.

I’m using 50 Lb dumbbells for my bench presses that I do 30 total reps with a 20- second rest period between sets. It is safer to use dumbbells rather than bar bells unless you have a spotter. I use 50 Lb dumbbells because if I get into a bind I can drop them.

Lifestyle of Your Triple Play

Included with your fitness is your lifestyle that consists of a career that you should enjoy doing, social activities like church functions, sporting events, and gatherings. The big one is developing hobbies and being active in some type of sport. PickleBall is becoming popular and has a lower threshold of impact on your joints. For someone that has had four- knee surgeries, and hip replacement, and just got through with my battle with Stage 2 Prostate Cancer, low impact is important at age 67. My fitness program is why I recovered from all these surgeries so fast.

Another fitness element that I have in my CASTER Fitness is working out with a boxing bag for three rounds of 3- minutes each, total 9- minutes. Ladies this is a full body workout even for you to do. I work with women in my gym during the week that want to learn how to workout on a boxing bag and weight train on their own. This is not a guys exercise ladies only, but is a great full body exercise for you as demonstrated by Paige, shown below:

The reason that I place a lot of emphasis on hobbies is that hobbies can become your second career when you retire, like I did in 2017 when I started my welding shop.

I’m working in my welding shop on a bracket for a Warn Winch on a Jeep. I’m using a 220 V 180 Amp Lincoln Welder with 7018 Electrode Rods. This is where your fitness comes in real handy when getting into various position to weld. And especially handling 115 pounds of steel plate for jobs. In welding, you get a full workout. If you take photos of images like welding use a filter, it will protect your camera sensors.

I have several hobbies like covering sports, health and fitness, golfing, aviation, including my sports apparel business, and my welding. I can spend hours in my welding shop and not realize the time that I spent in my shop. Welding at age 67 has become my second career.

The Triple Play in Your Life

Healthy diet, proper fitness, and an active lifestyle are essential to not just slow and in some cases even stop the aging process; but can actually reverse the aging process. While we can do nothing about your age, we can have a tremendous impact on how we age during those years.

I have followed The MELIORA Health & Fitness Program for the past 10 years, since 28Nov2014, that contributed to my health and fitness that I had in my mid-30’s, but now at age 67. My special diet and fitness provided me with a way to actually reverse my aging process to my mid-30’s now at age 67, shown above. Do I have sore and stiff joints? NO Doubt, but stretching and yoga has helped reduce these especial with my neuropathy. Yoga and strength training is essential for me after I had never damage after my military medical discharge.
