One of my favorite times of year to shop for apparel is fall and winter, because of the various options we have to choose from, especially for tailgating and those cool great outdoor activities. It also gives me a chance to wear my leather A-2 or G-1 flight jackets that have become my, all time and occasion, sports jacket. I have mothballed my cloth sports jackets since 2020.
Those cool crisp fall and winter days provide great opportunities to wear some of the most wonderful fashions, especially for those great sporting events and social gatherings.
HOW to Improve Your Shopping Experience
We all have been in apparel stores or looking through catalogs and see how great those clothes look on models and mannequins to only get home and try them on and not have that same experience or results. That doesn’t have to be your shopping experience or results. You can actually replica at home and during your various activities the same results you see in stores or catalogs just by toning up your muscles with simple strength & conditioning training. DO NOT neglect your muscles during your fitness sessions, this is your best age-defying option that you have.
You can actually replicate the same visuals effects and how you look and feel with those great selections at home and attending your various activities and functions that you saw in stores or catalogs just by following a simple diet and fitness regimen. Whether at work, traveling, or at social events, you can be confident that you can look and feel as great in those fashions that you saw in those stores or in those catalogs.
This can actually be achieved in weeks instead of having to wait for months and still not be able to see any results. We all want to look and feel our best for the holidays and for the start of a new year where we make resolutions to get into better shape; but never achieve our goals. Good News, it isn’t your fault, it is not having the right diet and fitness program, to work with your body for an age-defying appearance in weeks.
Achieving Your Age-Defying Health and Fitness
The biggest advantage and asset that particular models have is their health (diet) and their fitness of toning and conditioning. There’s not a more critical assessment of your health and fitness than what’s provided through the lens of the camera. Especially if you’re over the age of 65, as in my case. In the feature photograph, above, I am actually 67 years old. Health and fitness goes far beyond just your waistline and weight, to your muscle tone to have an age-defying appearance of you skin.
Options for an Age-Defying Appearance that Models Enjoy
There are multiple advertisements that state how their creams, ointments, and supplements can give you a younger looking skin and I’m sure that some, if not most of them, work as promised. But your biggest transformation is internal to drop more than just inches, pounds, but actually years off your skin, if not decades off your appearance of your biggest organ. When it comes to being younger looking, your eyes and your skin has it based on muscle tone through conditioning.
Providing proper nutrition and toning to your muscles is actually your best means to achieve an age-defying appearance and lifestyle that anyone can have. This is superior even compared to those creams, ointments, and supplements; or even plastic surgeries. Nutrition and strengthening of your muscles provides the biggest benefits to the skin and your overall health, hands down. Strength training provides us with a multitude of health benefits that exceeds any makeover you can have; and a lot less expensive.
You couple strength training with proper diet and getting proper sleep; and you can develop the best makeover that will catch the attention of family, friends, and people in general. Proper strength training, called METCON (Metabolic Conditioning), to provide an after-burner effect. METCON provides the following benefits to YOU:
AGE-DEFYING SKIN– When the muscles are worked with resistance training it stimulates the Pituitary gland (our master gland). This type of training allows the muscles to release a natural Growth Hormone to rejuvenate and repair cells in your joints and particularly your skin to reverse the aging process by years; and in some cases by decades. Below, I’m shown in my GYM bench pressing 90 Lbs where I do 3 sets of 10- reps of bench presses. NOTE: I use dumbbells because I don’t have a spotter when I workout; so if I get into a blind, I can simply drop the dumbbells. This was taken last month, October 2024.
This (Diet and Strength Training) coupled with getting enough sleep is important to maintain the health and fitness of our skin. The skin is the biggest indicator of our perceived age, not your actual age. Our bodies use sleep as a R&R, (Repair and Rejuvenation) period to allow our body to rejuvenate our body’s and particularly our skin at night. Never under estimate the value of sleep.
Here’s an important tip in allowing your body to rejuvenate itself at night, DO NOT eat past 6 p.m. Eating past 6 p.m. interferes with your body’s natural ability to rejuvenate itself at night to have an age-defying appearance and ability to function at a higher level, the next day. Also eating past 6 p.m. doesn’t allow your body to metabolize your food as energy, but processes your food as fat.
BURNING CALORIES– For every pound of muscle that you add, your body can burn 50 extra calories per day and during the night. If a person replaces just 10- pounds of their fat with 8.47- pounds of muscles (i.e., an 8 Lb dumbbell), because muscle weighs 15.23% more than fat, a person can burn an additional 423.5 calories per day just by adding 8.5 Lb of muscle mass.
Guys and gals, I workout for 60- minutes per day, 6- days per week, with high intensity metabolic aerobic-cardio strength conditioning (METCON). I can burn about 575 calories during each of my workouts. Here some info- One pound of fat represents 3,500 calories. I’m burning almost 1,000 calories above my average 2,000 calories burn each day just by working out and what my muscles burn is each day.
RIGHT DIET– For an age-defying appearance it isn’t ONLY WHAT you eat, but as I mentioned above, it is WHEN you eat your meals. The WHAT is based on a diet high in Protein, Fiber, Omega-3 & 6 Fats, Probiotic, and complex Carbs just using 9- components on the Nutrition Labels. Combine the WHAT with the WHEN component in your diet will allow you to see health and fitness benefits resulting in an age-defying effects of your skin. A lot of people wants to drop their weight, inches, and health numbers, but how about dropping the age of your skin, as well? YOU CAN!
In the feature photograph, above, I’m 67 years old posing with one of our models that is in her mid-20’s. There would be no way that I could have pulled this off if I didn’t follow my MELIORA Diet and Fitness Program and maintained an active lifestyle. My active lifestyle also includes working in my welding shop, farm, and aviation.

POST WORKOUT– I use Cryotherapy after my workouts to reduce muscle and joint soreness especially being over the age of 60, but it also did something unique and unexpected, as well. Cryotherapy converts my fat cells from white fat into what is called beige (or brown) fat cells. The reason this is significant is that the body can burn beige fat in cells at a faster rate than the body does white fat cells.
This allows us to get rid of that stubborn belly fat and firm up our abs even if you’re over 60’s, as I am.
But I’m talking to you guys NOW– Firming up my abs wasn’t the only benefit that I received from Cryotherapy. I had a Prostatectomy (removal of my prostate) in February of 2024 after being diagnosed with Stage 2 Prostate Cancer in December of 2023. Cryotherapy helped eliminate my incontinence in less than 2- weeks. This usually can take up to 18- weeks to 12- months to do.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION
For those that have never used Cryotherapy, PLEASE first start off with just cold tap water (62 deg F.) FIRST only for just 5- minutes before using cooler temperatures (not to drop below 52 deg F.) for a maximum of 15- minutes.
Guys, please get your PSA Test done during your routine physical blood work if you are over the age of 40. My PSA in November of 2023 was 6.2 (normal reading is at or below 4.0) my biopsy in December of 2023 confirmed that I had Stage 2 Cancer.
