A DIET that Provides Results of a Wonder Drug– Wall Street Journal on January 13th, 2024 had an Article by Bradley Olson on a Wonder Drug. This was about the Drug Mounjaro to Treat Type-2 Diabetes/Obesity that are at Epidemic Levels in US

Charles Barkley, one of my favorite basketball commentator, especially during the NCAA Tournament, has lost about 60 Lbs, down from 352 Lbs in 6 months using the diabetic drug Mounjaro. Another drug that is in the news for weight loss is Ozempic and Wegovy that has generic name for Tirzepatide.

Healthy Diet and Fitness is Still Your Best Option to Lose Weight

I have maintained a healthy diet and fitness program where I don’t have to take prescribed medications of any type, because every medication has certain known side effects. The same with Tirzepatide that has such side effects as nausea, vomiting, stomach issues, and diarrhea, just to name a few side effects.

Obesity is at epidemic levels in the United States running about 41.9 percent Nationally. Obesity is just one threat to our health that also leads to diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, strokes, certain cancers, and premature aging that has a whole host of issues.

Mounjaro, or the generic drug Tizepatide, can run between $1,000 to $1,500 per injection that is injected once a week into the abdomen, arm, or thigh. If you take the case of Charles Barkley of losing 60 Lbs over 6 months and if he took it once a week, that would amount to 24 weeks x $1,000 = $24,000, or $400,00 per pound of weight lost.

In my case, I lost 52- Lbs and 9.25- inches in my waistline that I have managed to keep off now going on 9- years on The MELIORA DIET Program:

Below is a typical lunch that I have during the week with the scores for each item. The objective is to keep your scoring at or below 3.25. As you can see you aren’t depriving yourself on The MELIORA Diet.

Everyone is familiar with the numbers concerning the obesity rate now pushing 42% of Americans. If you are trying to lose weight as part of your New Year’s Resolution, I know all too well the difficulties that you all are facing dieting and hitting the gym. I been there before.

Before you resort to injections to drop weight, consider this factor for COST of these injections drugs done once a week for Type-2 diabetes. I prefer to drop weight with diet and fitness, with fewer side effects, except for a smaller waistline. I’m not talking about 5- Lbs and a couple of inches, I’m talking about in my case dropping 52- Lbs and 9.25- inches in 31- weeks, 7- months, guys and gals, see my actual results below:

This is my actual Waistline Chart that I kept over 10- Months from 28Nov2014 to 05Sep2015. I still have a 28.50- inch waist now in 2024

  

My Weight Condition in 2014

I was 45- Lbs overweight with a waistline of 37.75 inches with a height of 66- inches. Not exactly your picture of health.

My healthy waistline based on my height should be according to the Rule of Thumb 66 / 2 = 33- inches. But because I was starting a sportswear performance business in June of 2015, I used a denominator of 2.2, or 66 / 2.2 = 30- inches. That meant that I needed to lose 7.75- inches in my waist, or about 45- Lbs (5.75 Lbs per inch) in the next 31- weeks.

You can expect to lose a-quarter-of-a-inch per week or about 2- Lbs/week.

My Chemical Engineering Background to Develop a Diet Plan

I used my Chemical Engineering background to develop a better and improved diet plan to drop my weight. Up until then, every diet that I had tried over the years failed, as most of you might have experienced.

My 101 Fitness Program

I had to temporary suspend My fitness program that was based on The 101st Airborne fitness that I did up until I had my hip issues that prevented me from working out that lead to my weight gain. In October 2014, I had hip replacement surgery that allowed me to get back to my 101 Workout Program, see my video below:

My Effective MELIORA Diet Program

We know that dietitians highlight that a healthy diet consists of Protein, Fiber, Omega- 3 Fats, and complex Carbs. DO NOT go on a Carb Free Diet, a NO CARB DIET is actually unhealthy for a number of reasons, a major one being Cardiovascular health. I used these data points, shown below, on this nutrition label to help me to decipher a nutrition labels that allowed me to lose 52- Lbs and 9.25- inches starting on November 28th, 2014.

This is one of my main staples, Pinto Beans, that is considered by dietitians as being the perfect food to have at every meal.

The MELIORA (Latin for Better or improved) Diet that Turbocharged my Body

Before you ditch your New Year’s Resolutions, look at using the PREMIER process to drop your weight, inches, and years off, that’s right, I said years off as well.

Purpose, Reason, Execution, Metric Incentive, Expectations , Results

P– Purpose- I now had my purpose to lose 45- Lbs over a 31- week period before I started my sportswear and performance business in June of 2015. I was retiring from line work at age 57 to start my business plan.

R– Reason- I was going to add another criteria to my objective business plan, I was also going to start modeling our sports apparel and produce training videos as the instructor in conjunction to running the appeal and fitness business.

The camera provides the most critical critique of your health and fitness of anything that you will encounter. Before you start a diet and fitness program take a before photograph that will reinforce your reason to continue your DIET and FITNESS. Tape it up in an area that you can see each and every day!

My Safari Cockpit Collection and Aviation Gear:

E– Execution- I developed the MELIORA DIET based on WHAT I ate (DAC score equal to or below 3.25) and WHEN I ate (between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m.). I lost 4- inches during just the month of December of 2014. Refer to my waistline chart, above. Remember– If you can’t measure IT, you can’t achieve IT.

I knew I had the right diet I needed when I lost 35- Lbs or 4- inches during the month of December of 2014. Now 9- years later, I had my annual physical where I weighed in at 148- Lbs. with a T-shirt. gym shorts, and socks on at my Doctor office.

Visit to my Doctor office. PLEASE DO NOT neglect your annual physicals (Gals & Guys). It just might save your life like it did my. I’m considered myself healthy, fit, and in good shape, even at age 66. But during a routine PSA Test that I had my PSA was elevated above the normal 4.0. I have been diagnosed with Stage 1 Prostate Cancer. Fortunately for me, I caught it early and is treatable. Please keep reading my updates to my treatments. MI– Metric & Incentives- I measured my waistline once a week to plot my progress that I used as my incentive. Incentives are huge, measure IT to achieve IT!

E– Expectations- I was placing a high demand on myself and my diet, at age 57, in December of 2014 to reach my goal by June of 2015. I was going to start modeling our Safari Cockpit Collection at age 57 then, and now 9- years later at age 66.

R-Results- I was just trying to drop 45- Lbs and 7.75- inches to get into shape within 31- weeks. I accomplished that, but I dropped something else totally unexpected, I dropped about 30 years off my age of my skin based on a diet that is high in Protein, Fiber, Omega-3 Fats, and complex Carbs.

Above was a photoshoot I did in December of 2023 with a young lady that works with us and also models for us that is in her early 20’s.

I also posted low Physical Exams Numbers at age 66 without being on any prescribed medication, except for my PSA Number, that was elevated:

Blood pressure- 125/82

Blood Glucose- 109 (Non Fasting)

Total Cholesterol- 158

PSA- 6.2

Waistline- 28.50″

Weight- 148 Lbs.

BMI- 18.75

NOTE: If you noticed, I had an above average PSA reading during my physical. The Urologist performed a Prostate Biopsy in December of 2023, this is similar to a colonoscopy. The Biopsy confirmed that I had barely Stage 1 Prostate Cancer. I realize PSA tests aren’t perfect, GUYS, but it is the only method we have presently to detect possible malignancies early.
