In December of 2014, I started on a journey to improve my health and fitness, and how I felt about myself and my appearance. I had a hip injury from my time in service along with four (4) knee surgeries in my late 29’s and 30’s that made working out in my mid-40’s almost impossible due to the pain, especially in my hip. This was further complicated by a slowing metabolism that we all start to experience in our mid-30’s if we don’t remain active with a fitness program.
I gained weight in my late 40’s and early 50’s to a tone of 35- pounds of being overweight and had a waistline of 37.75- inches that was 5.75- inches over my ideal waist size of 32- inches based on my height of 5-ft- 6-in. I didn’t want to approach my late-50’s being overweight and out of shape. Being out of shape and over weight only complicates other health related issues for us as we age.
I had another incentive to lose the pounds and inches, I was planning on starting my sports performance apparel and fitness business at age 57 when I was planning to retire. I also was going to model the sports apparel that we were going to carry in our online store starting in June of 2015 that included our A-2 Leather Bomber Jackets and our Safari Chino Khakis pants. Being out of shape was a significant obstacle to modeling and doing fitness videos.
NOTE: A healthy waistline is based on your height by taking your height in inches and dividing your height by a factor of 2. Because I was modeling, I used a factor of 2.20.
EXAMPLE: I’m 66- inches tall divided by 2.20, my waistline should be 30- inches.
The Weight Lost I needed to do to Start Modeling at age 57
I needed to lose down to a waistline of 30- inches by the end of June of 2015 when I was retiring as a Transmission Line Grid Engineer in Mississippi. I was looking at losing 7.75- inches within a 6- month period that represented about 40- pounds to drop. I needed to drop the inches and pounds where I could model our SPORTY’S Wright Bros. Safari-Cockpit Collections that we were to carry in our online store, THE QATSPY®, shown below:
So during my recovery period during the month of November of 2014, after my hip surgery, I used my Chemical Engineering background to figure out how to decipher nutrition labels to determine food that fit the category of The Macro-Nutrition Diet. The Macro-Nutrition Diet consists of foods that are high in protein, fiber, probiotic, complex carbs, that also contain Omega-3 fats (the healthy fats). These are foods you need to fuel your body for energy instead of weight gain.
A great example of Macro-Nutrition selection is what Dietitians consider the perfect food, Pinto Beans and Sweet Potatoes. Refer to the RANCH STYLE BEANS Nutrition Label, below, of the nine (9) data points that I use to identify food that are considered as Macro-Nutrition with a low score:
Marco-Nutrition foods allow the body to burn food and burn off any retention fat as energy for the body to utilized, even while we are sleeping. I developed what I called the Metabolic Rate (MR) Score formula where I could decipher foods that had a MR score at or below 3.25 that I could eat and lose weight and inches at the same time.
I proved in the next 4- weeks that food with a MR score at or below a 3.25 that I consumed between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. time period was food that allowed my body to burn as energy instead of store as fat. Eating past 6 p.m. devastates your health and fitness that also causes weight gain. I actually turned my body into a Calorie-burning-juggernaut within a period of just 4-weeks. Look at the image, below, that was taken when I was called back off retirement to help out with Hurricanes Laura and Delta that devastated southwest Louisiana in 2020 when I was 62.

Combo of MELIORA DIET with FITNESS to Drop Weight, Inches, and Years
When I combined the Macro-Nutrition Diet that was developed in the 1930’s by George Ohsawa that became the bases for THE MELIORA Diet with my 30- minute fitness program. I saw results in little as 4- weeks during December of 2014, refer to my waistline chart. I’m talking about right during the Holidays Season.
I dropped down from 37.75- inches, on November 28th, 2014, down to 33- inches, by December 31st, 2014, guys that was 4.75- inches that I dropped! The great thing about Macro-Nutrition Diet was that I still ate food that was very satisfying and healthy. Just look at my Steak Lunch that I enjoy once a week with MR Numbers for each entree, below:
Then I continued dropping the weight and inches where I reached a 31- inch waistline by the first part of June, 2015, refer to my waistline chart. Then by September of 2015, I lost down to 28.50- inches, that represented 52- pounds that I dropped, where I’m at NOW some 9-years later. But, I also dropped something that I wasn’t expecting to drop that any model, male or female, would love to drop, I dropped decades off the age of my skin in just three months. I actually reverse the aging process to have skin and conditioning that I enjoyed when I was in my mid-30’s at now age 66.
