Palmer TECH Using Special Golf Balls, a Great Father’s Day Gift
One of the biggest obstacles standing in the way of the average amateur golfer who is trying to develop a consistent golf swing is finding time to work on their golf game. Practice time for the average amateur golfer is at a premium. For most of us, golf is our passion, instead of our profession, and the time we have to work on our golf swing is time we must make the most of.
There are some special golf ball that can allow your father to use his backyard as a practice range, or a scaled-down version of a par-4. These special golf balls are safe to use in the backyard and don’t cause injury to others or damage to property. The 405- Training Drill
During my 405- Training Drill, I usually take my utility (nose) bag and hit between 200 to 500 Almost Golf Balls® in my backyard. I carry my golf bag with me and hit every club in my bag. The characteristics of these Almost Golf Balls® allow me to reinforce my muscle memory, while I get between 3.5 to 4 miles of walking and aerobic exercise in and enjoy the outdoors.
If you are a son or daughter, you can use these Almost Golf Balls® and spend time with your father by enjoying one of the best sports in the world. The reason it is important to reinforce muscle memory is that the subconscious mind can only retain a set of skills for a limited amount of time, a few weeks. In order to maintain your critical muscle memory, you and your father have to continue performing your golf swing sequence.
The 405- Training Drill allows you and your father to take a page out of the football coach’s play book and apply it to your golf game. The 405- Training Drill that is described in my book in Section 7 allows you and your father to apply a scrimmage-type practice to your golf training. The number one stumbling block between your father’s golf practice and his golf game is simulating the same conditions that exist on the golf course. The 405- Training Drill and Almost Golf Balls® will allow your father to directly engage and train his subconscious mind.
The rules of the subconscious mind state- if there is a contrast between how the golfer practices and plays, the subconscious mind will defer to their course play. The subconscious mind will sabotage any new technique learned during golf lessons and practice. Until the subconscious mind can have confidence in a new golf swing technique, it will retain an existing golf swing technique. This is the very reason why you or your father can’t directly take what you just learned in a golf lesson or practice session to the golf course.

In my golf book, I discuss The Palmer Tendon Golf Swing Technique, the Palmer TECH, which makes it easier not only to perform a consistent golf swing, but also to coach golf swing mechanics to others.
