Workout to Prevent a TKO from a FALL over 50: Falls are the number one cause of Injuries/Death over 50 that a Boxing Bag can help you avoid. Put on the gloves and get on a bag to strengthen your core muscles for balance, cognitive, fitness

It was with regret that we learned yesterday, March 27, 2024, that former Senator Joe Lieberman, age 82, passed away from complications from a fall that he had weeks before. I hate to report that a vital statistic about how a simple fall can have a dramatic effect on your life. A fall for people over 50 can cause you to be admitted to a hospital, or nursing home, or being restricted to a wheelchair. This often than not leads to death if you don’t take certain precautions now.

Ladies, boxing bag workout isn’t a man’s exercise, but a great workout for you, as well.

There is a lot of emphasis being placed on nutrition, health, and fitness not just for those of us over 50, but those of all ages in getting the right nutrition, exercise, and having an active lifestyle. The reason these factors are important to us is that they impact our health and the ability for us to have an independent lifestyle as we age. Independence is a huge factor in our quality of life that we can enjoy. This is why having and following a fitness routine is important to us.

The Best Full-Body Workout

One of the means to prevent falls, especially those of us over 50, is by focusing on conditioning and strengthening our core muscles and cognitive ability. One of the best ways to achieve core strength, stability, and balance is to focus on a full-body workout with a simple boxing bag workout. This improves the people’s balance, stability, cognitive function, coordination, and improves people’s cardiovascular health, especially if you include strength training.

What improves the heart and soul, improves the mind, as well; because a boxing bag workout is a great meditation technique. The boxing bag workout is a very efficient workout especially to improve our coordination, balance, stability, and cognitive function that is key to allowing the mind to maintain its normal functions. We don’t have to succumb to the ravages of aging. We can actually convince our body that it is younger that it is.

Another part of cognitive function that we don’t often associate with our workouts is the ability to meditate and to increase our confidence. Confidence provides cognitive balance and equilibrium to prevent instability that leads to falls. Probably one of my best mediation techniques outside of my devotions that I do each morning is my boxing bag workout and cycling in my gym.

A Boxing Bag Workout

This boxing bag workout that addresses our coordination, balance, and more importantly, our cognitive function helps to prevent falls by strengthening our core muscles. Do not underestimate the effects of even having a one-to-two minute bag workout three times a week. This coupled with your cardio-aerobic strength training (CAST) can prevent falls and strengthen your bones, lower your blood pressure, glucose, and lower your cholesterol levels.

Bench Presses being performed with (2) 45- Lb dumbbells

I incorporate four -to- five 2 minute rounds on my 80 Lb. boxing bag during my routine sessions in my Mojave Gym in between my bag workouts. I include one- minute water break and perform my other cardio-aerobic strength training on weights and elastic tubing. If you don’t have room for free weight (i.e., dumbbells), I would highly recommend that you use elastic tubing that I also use, as well, for toning.

The Benefits of Boxing Bag Workout on Parkinson’s

People that are dealing with Parkinson’s find significant benefits from boxing bag workouts. I keep up with the research and treatment in the medical field to treat Parkinson’s patients. This benefits all of us in maintaining our cognitive function and issues we might have to face later in our life. Don’t put this off thinking you’ll start working out later, because you won’t start. Boxing bag work is a benefit for what is called Cognitive Benefits Therapy (CBT) for Veterans dealing with PTSD.

My philosophy is this, WHY wait until we face these issues that include preventing falls to start a bag workout and exercise routine, START NOW. Why not start now working out on a bag as a part of your workout that I have enjoyed doing and have received benefits from including my diet. Below are benefits from my recent physical exam.

Below were results from my Annual Physical in August of 2023

Blood pressure- 115/61

Blood Glucose- 109 (Non Fasting)

Total Cholesterol- 158

Waistline- 28.50″

Weight- 148 Lbs.

BMI- 18.75

PSA- 6.2

These results from my annual physical are without me being on any prescribed medication. If you noticed, I bolded my PSA results that were elevated above the normal level of 4.0.

I was referred to Jackson Urology Clinic here in Jackson, MS, where I had a biopsy that indicated I had Stage 2 Cancer. In February of 2024, I had a Prostatectomy to take evasive action that we selected. That early detection saved my life from having metastatic cancer later. When I returned in March of 2024 my PSA reading was 0.0. This was what we were hoping for.

This means that at the present time I’m free of Prostate Cancer. I will return in June of 2024 for a follow-up PSA Check to see if it remains at 0.0. My fitness workout has shorten effects from a Prostatectomy (i.e., incontinence).
