Auburn Football Team running out onto the field at Jordan-Hare Stadium

Hugh Freeze is Auburn New Head Football Coach– Freeze was the Former Ole Miss & Liberty Football Coach, is a Story of Seeking Redemption

In 2017, Coach Freeze had to leave Ole Miss as their Head Football Coach for abusing his office by misusing state-issued cell phone and other issues in regards to lack of institutional control. These all were lack of judgment on Coach Hugh Freeze’s part, while he was head coach at Ole Miss.

Without strong guidelines in one’s character over an entire course of one’s life, we all can fall short of adhering to honor code and integrity that helps us steer our path through decisions that we make. When our decisions are dominated by our desires over obligations and responsibilities our life can easily go off the rails that can cause derailments in our life. We ALL have to keep check on our desires to avoid these type of derailments in life.

Should Coach Hugh Freeze accept blame, and should make restitution to those that he has wronged? Yes! But is there redemption for all of us, where we have an opportunity for second and third chances after we have made a life correction and make restitution for a wrong? Yes!

King David, the Apple of God’s Eye even after Being Disobedient

King David still remained the Apple of God’s Eye, even after not only committing adultery with Bathsheba, but also being an accessory to a murder of Uriah, Bathsheba’s husband. Uriah had an honorable service in Israel’s Army fighting under Commanding General Joab. David gave orders to make sure that General Joab placed Uriah in what would be considered The Charge of the Light Brigade, or on a suicide mission, to cover up an adultery David committed with Bathsheba.

Did that mean that King David escape from having to pay a price for his sins? No! He paid the price with the death of the the first child David had with Bathsheba. But there was one key factor in King David’s case, and once Nathan brought this to David’s attention, he sought forgiveness and confessed his sin and wrong.

Hugh Freeze’s Case of Returning to SEC

Hugh Freeze didn’t just face personal humiliation, but public humiliation when he was confronted with his wrongdoing at Ole Miss of abusing his office. This forced Hugh Freeze to step down as Ole Miss Head Football Coach. Sports reminds us that there are second and third chances for all of use to prove ourselves.

Remember what Peter asked Christ about forgiveness of forgiving others seven times, but Christ answered and replied, seventy times seven. Has Hugh Freeze made restitution, publicly? From his press conference, he has. The real redemption is one he has made privately, that’s between him, his family, and his God. Time will tell if Hugh Freeze has made the necessary changes to avoid his issues at Ole Miss, or not. But he like all of us deserves that opportunity to prove himself, as we all do.

We learn our experience from failures and we gain our confidence from successes. The best revenge in life that we can have is being successful; that way we do not have to lower our standards or character, or even make excuses or ask forgiveness from others for our success to others as we do for wrongs we make.

Just a reminder to football fans, it doesn’t matter how much integrity and solid character that you have as a coach that coaches are finally measured on; you are still measured based on win verses loses record at the end of each year.

Reminder we learn from the past; we don’t live in the past. Philippians 3:13- Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended yet: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before,
