FantomWorks® A Business Model & Philosophy– It Isn’t about doing what it Expedient, or what is good; but Doing what is Right for Long haul

There are several shows that I enjoy watching, one is FantomWorks® that still airs on Velocity Channel. The craftsmanship, hard work, attention to details, and pride that Dan Short and his crew put into restoring classic vehicles are phenomenal that I enjoy watching. The hard work ethic and skill personnel that Dan has on his team takes classic vehicles and gives them a new life where others can appreciate the history of the American Classics, like the 1963 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray.

But, that isn’t the only reason that I watch the FantomWorks® series on Velocity Channel, I watch it because of the work ethic that Dan Short has cultivated in his business philosophy. Dan Sort’s business philosophy is a great model for us to follow and especially our executives to use in making decisions and committed to providing the best service and/or product possible to their customers.

Years take an unbelievable toll on classic vehicles left to the ravages of the elements and restoration work that wasn’t done correctly. I have seen Classic Corvettes, Camaros, Novas, Mustangs, and trucks that come to FantomWorks® that suffer from more than just neglect, but also improper restoration work and decisions. But leave as new as the day these classics were manufactured and were driven off the showroom flood.

Dan Short isn’t about doing something expedient or easy, but about doing things right regardless of the work evolved including removing previous work that was done wrong and not according to manufacturer’s specifications. The only way to honor the engineering and craftsmanship that manufactures design these American Classics is to replicate the exact same design and manufacturing specifications that made these the classics they are.

It’s a Mentality

I have more respect and admiration for craftsmen that I do for executives and especially politicians. It was the hard working craftsmen that built the most successful county that history has ever witnessed. Self reliant and perseverance isn’t about doing what is expedient or easy that has made America Great, but hard work ethic and making the hard decisions that has made this country great.

Politicians seem to agonize and delay in making the difficult decisions trying to achieve a particular outcome that they prefer instead of what is right and responsible. In sports a guaranteed way to lose a game is to focus on the scoreboard and the outcome of the game instead of concentrating on the preparation and process to compete at the highest level and let the outcome take care of itself.

Peter Doocy Question during the Biden’s Press Conference about Ukraine

Peter Doocy’s question at the press conference indicated how unprepared Biden was in under estimating Putin’s invasion of a sovereign country of Ukraine without any provocation. Ukraine wasn’t given the proper military support needed at the get go to defend itself, especially with air support. You can’t mount a defense without air support. You can’t deny a country its ability to protect its airspace.

Unlike in Vietnam that LBJ escalated sense he was a military tactician, Ukrainians wants to fight to defend their own country. It isn’t our place to deny Poland the ability to transfer MIGs to Ukraine to help them with air support to protect their cities. Russian Artillery could be severely degraded by giving Ukraine pilots the air support that should have been in place before the invasion even started as a decisive deterrence.

It is only right to give Ukraine the air support that they need in their defense of their country. You can’t win a war by being afraid of your opponent and what they will do, you have to use all means necessary to defend your country. I have no idea what is worse than the Russians Army committing War Crimes. You can’t be fixated only on what your opponent might do, but you must concentrate on what you must and can do NOW.

We can’t deny Ukraine’s ability to defend their airspace by allowing Poland that ability to transfer MIGs fighters to the Ukraine air defense. You want to alleviate the pain and suffering of the Ukraine people, give them the means to defend their airspace and deny the Russian Army the ability to resupply itself and have artillery positions around Ukraine cities. I wouldn’t want to run Russians out of Ukraine, I prefer to send them back as a memorial for Putin’s miscalculations.

Being responsible is pretty simple, it’s doing what is right, not what is easy.■
