Dr Jekyll & Mr. Hyde

I’m the author of the The ESPY Golf Swing Coach. I developed The ESPY Golf Swing to deal with a serious condition I call The ‘Jekyll-and-Hyde syndrome.’ The Jekyll-and-Hyde syndrome is where a golfer performs flawless golf shots on the practice range, only to experience a radically different performance on the golf course. The longest walk that a golfer can make is from the practice range to the first tee box.

In my golf game, I reached the point of total frustration, causing me to look for answers from other sources for techniques and mechanics to increase my power, speed, and control. The only source that I could draw from was the baseball-type swing. What caused me to look closely at the baseball swing was the term “wheelhouse,” used in both sports. I spent the next six months examining the baseball swing, using slow motion video to detect the body’s natural mechanics to produce a consistent golf swing.

01Baseball Swing Tech

Growing up in the Ozarks of Arkansas, I played baseball, like hundreds of kids do, and did not experience the same issues I was having with my golf swing. What possibly could I draw from the baseball swing that was eluding me in my golf swing? I started connecting the dots, when I witnessed a high school baseball team using T-ball batting practice. If you closely examine T-ball workout and the golf swing mechanics, the only essential difference is the shaft of the club. In baseball, the shaft of the club is the extension of the batter’s forearms. What I found was the baseball batter is essentially using the elbows and shoulders as sprockets to maximize the body’s natural mechanics.

After four years of studying and three years of drafting my findings, I developed the Ergo (Natural mechanics) Synch (Cam), Protract (Cam-over), and Yaw elements in The ESPY Golf Swing Coach that significantly improved my golf swing. In six months after finalizing my results, I was able to eliminate the Mr. Hyde part from my golf swing and lower my handicap into the single-digit figures.

A Recommendation for your Golf Game:

I would like to recommend a wonderful radio program that I regularly listen to on my I-Heart Radio app to KARN 102.9 FM station out of Little Rock, AR. They air a golf show called “Arkansas Fairways and Greens,” at 7:00 AM CT each Saturday morning, hosted by Bob Steel and Jay Fox. Bob occasionally has on his show a guest named Shawn Humphries, a Professional Golf Instructor from Dallas, Texas. One thing that Mr. Humphries stresses is the mental part of golf, not focusing on the results but the process.

Until next time– Be Synched, Tee-to-Green, with The ESPY Golf Swing!
