Age-Defying Health/Appearance is Classical– The value of a classic vehicle appreciates over time where the replacement cost is incalculable. We should have the same appreciation for our health and fitness that is incalculable irreplaceable
This is Wear Red Women’s Heart Health Month; but the fact is Cardiovascular Disease is the No. 1 cause of death for both women and men. Some of the causes of heart disease are:
Issues we can control:
· How we age
· High Blood pressure
· High Cholesterol
· Obesity
· Physical inactivity
· Unhealthy diet (high in saturated and trans fats, and sodium)
· Diabetes
· Kidney disease
· Thyroid Disease
· Sleep apnea
Issues we have no control over:
· Congenital heart defects
· Family history
One reason that classic vehicles are so interesting that draws so much attention are their great mint condition and how they’ve been kept in pristine condition like they’ve just been driven off the showroom floor. They don’t indicate their age even if the vehicle is a 1950, or older model. These bring to mind our youth when we were young and had abundant energy and our life before us♠
There is a reason that I use the classic 1958 Chevrolet Stingray Corvette model featured above to emphases how important it is for us to maintain an age-defying lifestyle to either slow, stop, or even reverse the aging process. While there is nothing we can do about our actual age, what really matters is how we age in those years. This is why I listed how we age first, it isn’t our age; but how we age that matters. Left to its own natural processes, our body starts to deteriorate causing health issues around our mid-40’s, like Cardiovascular disease, the No. 1 Killer of both women and men♠
The health risk for Cardiovascular disease I have listed under Issues we can control, above. Just these 10 risks above we actually have control over first through diet, fitness, and lifestyle changes, then secondly, through supplements and medication. We can not only defy our age, we can actually defy these other nine conditions, this is what this article and my book is about, defying our ageing process♠
Following Healthy DIET, FITNESS, and LIFESTYLE
DIET
Eat a healthy diet that is high in Protein (amino acid), Fiber (soluble), Omega-3 and 6 Fats, Probiotic, and Complex Carbohydrates, DO NOT CUT OUT healthy CARBS from your diet. Not all carbs are unhealthy, your heart health depends on complex carbs like vegetables. You eliminate complex carbs from your diet and you can actually cause impairment that leads to heart disease♠
You need to eat on two important principles of WHAT and WHEN
WHAT to eat based on knowing how to read the standard Nutrition Labels using nine data points. You have to weed out the simple carbs, sugars, especially the added sugars, saturated, and trans fats. But you need to detect the complex carbs, healthy fats, that are NOT LISTED, like Monounsaturated and Polyunsaturated♠
WHEN to eat- Just DON’T EAT before 9 a.m. and definitely DO NOT EAT PAST 6 p.m. Eating past 6 p.m. causes those other nine controllable health risk to become a factor♠
FITNESS
Develop a fitness routine based on Cardio-Aerobic-Strength Training (CAST) because your heart is a muscle just like your biceps, triceps, quarts, and abdominal muscles are that can be detected. Cardio is to increase blood flow, while Aerobics is for increasing oxygen levels important for cell rejuvenation and replacements at a high rate. As we age this rejuvenation and replacements slows down and finally stops. This is what cause excess aging to occur♠
A routine fitness program should be 20- minutes per day for at least 3- days per week, I have 45- minute workout, 5-Days per week. The reason strength training is important, especially ladies, is because muscles that are worked release a natural growth hormone that contains collagen. This collagen provides for healthy joints and skin that can actually not only STOP the aging process, but actually REVERSE the aging process. Strength Training is the best SPA Treatment you can have Ladies, better that creams, ointments, or injections♠
In the featured photograph taken in November 2024 during our car and airshow, I’m 68 years old. I not only feel like I’m in my mid-30’s, but I also have skin of a 35 year old man♠
How to determine a healthy waistline- Take your height in inches and divide by two♠
My waistline is 65/2=32.5- inches my actual waistline is 29- inches because I model♠
LIFESTYLE
Sports activities are important to staying active, but also include hobbies like mine are agriculture, playing golf, welding, and aviation that I’m still involved in today. The fifth cause of Cardiovascular disease is the lack of activity. It is essential that you develop a hobby where that can become your 2nd career when you retire. STAY ACTIVE!
