A Sunday Morning Easy Rider Tour: Taking to the Open Road for an Early Sunday Morning Bike Ride is an Essential part of Clearing the Mind. Some say you have to take time to smell the Roses, that also goes for smelling the Bar-B-Que at the Full Moon Smoke Restaurant.
Weather permitting, I look forward to getting on my INDIAN Scout Bobber right after my morning devotions and right at sunrise and riding up the Natchez Trace to Kosciusko, Mississippi. Kosciusko is name for one of George Washington’s Generals that specialized in an early version the Combat Engineer erecting fortifications during the Revolutionary War.
I was with the 326th U.S. Army Combat Engineers attached to the 101st AIRBORNE. As engineers, we are faced with working out designs and material spec for projects. Since I picked up welding as a fourth hobby, or my second career, I find that I need to clear my mind of clutter and get a new approach to my projects. My INDIAN Motorcycle provides me with that quietness I need.
My INDIAN Scout Bobber 60 offers me that opportunity to clear the mind and provide a new and fresh perspective on my numerous welding projects. I also raise roses so that I can enjoy the sight and smell of those springtime blossoms. But like any Texan, I also enjoy smelling that Hickory Smoke when I pass Full Moon Bar-B-Que Restaurant in the morning when they are finishing smoking.
When you are over 60, as I am, you enjoy the simple things of life, and my Motorcycle rides offer me that opportunity of solitude. Especially since I have had my first PSA test done on March 21, 2024 clearing me of Stage 2 Prostate Cancer. Next one is scheduled for June 21st, 2024.
Guys, I’m talking to you, those over the age of 40! GET YOUR PHYSICALS AND HAVE A PSA TEST DONE! Dr. Runnels, my Urologist at Jackson Urology Clinic, used the skills that God provided him to saved my life. I had a PSA of 6.2 (4.0 or minus reading is normal) in November of 2023. Even with a PSA of 6.2, I had Stage 1 Cancer in December of 2023 that progressed to Stage 2 by February of 2024. DON’T TAKE THIS LIGHTLY GUYS! Your life depends on IT!
I count my blessings everyday that God has provided me. Are there thorns in life, like on my rose bushes have, most certainly there are. But if I can get up in the morning with just some minor soreness and stiffness, I’m having a great morning. Guys and Gals if you haven’t done it yet, start a fitness program, strength training is like an age-defying drug. In these photographs showing me, I’m 66 years old and have worked out since age 12.
