I love covering sports as a writer that also includes health, Diet, and Fitness to provide an age-defying life style even at my age of 68.

The Masters of the Human WILL to Succeed– Roy McIlroy winning the 2025 Masters was an 18-year odyssey hitting thousands of shoots since 2007. His odyssey developed the Character and Perseverance that was on displayed during the post Masters’ Conference.

The Apostle Paul still remains one of the best sports psychologists ever based on his writings that are as relevant today as they were in the first Century. Paul wrote in Romans 5: (3) Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; (4) perseverance, character; and character, hope. I know hope is not a plan, but it is not supposed to be, hope is our faith.

If you take perseverance in Paul’s writing of Romans 5: 3 through 4; and replace perseverance with faith, we would have a better understanding of the word faith in our lives. A lot of church sermons and lectures uses the term FAITH that some of us have difficulties in applying to our lives. But if those presenting those sermons and lectures would just relate our Faith to the word Perseverance, we would have stamina that we didn’t even realize we had.

Students that are in a homeschool program should take note of Roy Mcllroy’s post game press conference in reference to NEVER GIVING UP ON YOUR DREAMS! But first you have to prepare yourself for your dreams. Your dreams must become a mission.

This Perseverance was especially evident on Masters Palm Sunday when Roy McIlroy displayed emotions with his sudden death playoff over Justin Rose that also has a stiller career and personality of perseverance in this sport we call golf.

Often more times than not, we witnesses the wins and the presentations, in this case, of a Green Masters Jacket, trophy, and prize money on Masters’ Sunday ceremony. We saw just a tiny glimpse into Roy Mcllroy’s journey when he went to his knees with pure exhausted emotion.

This was not just from the four days Masters Tournament; but from a lifelong journey that started when he was just seven years old in Hollywood, Ireland. As Roy described during his post game press conference of the perseverance it took and what he had to play through. Roy McIlroy put in countless hours of training on and off the practice range and golf course and in gyms conditioning. The conditioning of the mind, body, and soul is actually more taxing.

The Conditioning of the Mind, Body, and Soul

As anyone will give an account to, high level sports, like golf, requires conditioning the mind by conditioning the body and soul with fitness. Probably the toughest is conditioning the mind, body, and soul in the gym with aerobic-cardio and strength training. If you want to know how difficult this conditioning is on an athlete, just try working on developing an abdominal six pack.

As many sports athletes know and will tell you that their performance has to be instinctive and second nature like a permanent motor skill that is a subconscious function. This takes years of working through many failures and difficulties to even achieve just a glimmer of success.

Probably the most difficult part in sports is broken down in two parts, FIRST– Develop one’s Stamina of never giving up on your dreams. SECOND– Is never let your past failures or successes dictate your future; but instead use both to developed and strengthen your faith, that is your perseverance to succeed.

The Best Sport Psychology

Never start down The Road Less Travel unless you are going to devote your life to your objective. You got to have that burning desire to accomplish your desires. If you do not have that burning desire, you are not going to devote and commit what is required to pursuing your dream.

Both Apostle Paul and Peter have some of the best Sports Psychology methods that can be used to develop us in sports as well as in our life-

Philippians 3:13-14

Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended it: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.

1 Peter 1:7

“….So the genuineness of your faith, which is much more precious than gold which is perishable, even though tested and purified by fire, may be found to result in your praise and glory and honor…”

President Calvin Coolidge on Perseverance and Growth

“Nothing in this world can take the place of PERSISTENCE. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent”

“All growth depends upon activity.”

Never Confuse Education with Experience

As part of my engineering orientation to new engineers coming out to the field right out of college for Transmission Line work- The first thing I would tell these young engineers FIRST– Listen more than you speak, SECOND– Never confuse your education with your experience that you are about to get, they are not the same. Failure develops experience while success builds confidence.

The Sayeret Warriors of Rephaim

This book is based on two fictional characters, Lieutenants Colonel Max Sotenberg and Lieutenants Colonel Yigael Rosenstraus. Lieutenant Colonel Sotenberg and Rosenstraus were in their mid-30’s that looked like they had just stepped out of central casting for one of Ian Fleming James Bond, 007, movie series. They were both trained in Krav Maga combat tactics, military strategies, trained in military intelligence, and spoke five different languages.

Their story is set against historical events that took place starting in October of 1993 where these two fictional officers were assigned to Mogadishu, Somalia in 1993. Their primary assignment was to gather intelligence on various terrorist groups in North Africa that could pose a threat to Israel security and assist the United States security forces in Somalia. This was during the U.S. Operation Restore Hope that started out as a humanitarian operation to insure food distribution to the Somalian people to prevent being captured by warlords, like Mohammad Farrah Aidid.
