Weighing in on Age-Defying Skin Treatment– At age of 68, I have skin and active lifestyle that I had in my mid-30’s even working outdoors as a Grid Engineer and flying. There’s not a more effective Anti-Aging treatment than having a healthy Diet, get enough Sleep, and 200 minutes of Fitness training.
This morning on Fox & Friends Dr. Nicole Saphier, M.D., talked about simple skincare methods people could use without buying expensive creams and ointments that are on the market. Dr. Saphier also references hydration and getting enough sleep as great means to obtain an age-defying skin. Part of my apparel business is where I model with young women in their mid-20’s.
If you want to challenge your health and fitness, just try modeling that is hard enough; but then model with women in their mid-20’s. This is a real test of an age-defying health and fitness along with an AB Challenge that I did last November in 2024:
For the past 35- years, I have been following my SARSO DIET & FITNESS Program that has provided me with the health and fitness that I had in my mid-30’s at age 68.
Healthy Diet–
One of my basic types of food that I have at every lunch and dinner is pinto beans where I mix-in Frito-Lay Bean Dip to provide a rich gravy base for taste. I have my pinto beans with meat and one or two vegetables (i.e., greens or yams) and green ice tea.
Pinto beans are a great source of protein, antioxidants, and amino acids (that can be broken down into essential fatty acids for healthy skin). My meat consists of turkey, fish, or lean beef, usually grilled or smoked. I love smoking/grilling so much that I welded up my own smoker/grill. I also have a Tablespoon of Olive Oil each night.
Olive oil is rich in omega-3 fatty acids and antioxidants, which can help reduce inflammation and promote healthy skin.
Other food options- Avocado, Broccoli, Spinach, Tomatoes, Berries (Blue and Strawberries), Nuts and seeds, Pomegranate, Yogurt (watch your sugar content below 6 grams), and eggs.
DO NOT EAT PAST 6 P.M. Eating past 6 p.m. will interfere with the body’s natural ability to recover, rejuvenate, replace, and repair itself at night while sleeping. This includes the rejuvenating your skin.
Sleeping
Just like eating, sleeping has circadian rhythms or time frames and patterns where your body receives enough regular sleep. This means that each person is different, for instance my length of sleep is 6- hours while some people might be 8- hours. Sleeping conditions should be as cool and dark as possible.
Fitness Training
My workout consists of MACS-X based on Minute Aerobic, Cardio, Strength Exercise. The M- is for a minute duration that I perform all my 18 exercises that includes strength training, except for my 9- Minute KRAV MAGA workout and 20- Minute cycling.
If you want young looking skin by decades not just years, it is essential that you include strength training in your fitness workout with simple dumbbells. I use dumbbells between 15 and 50 lbs. where I perform 2 sets of 15 reps with a 20 second rest period between sets.
Strength training increases the release of a natural growth hormone produced by your pituitary gland that stimulates your fibroblast cells in the skin resulting in the production of collagen. Strength training with aerobic/cardio exercises increase blood flow that contains hormones, vitamins, and oxygen to repair and replace skin cells at a faster rate.
Strength Training also reduces stress levels and improves cognitive functions. Physical therapists also incorporate boxing bag workouts for their Parkinson’s patients. You just workout for just 3- minutes on a bag with gloves and you would think 3- minutes is an eternity. I do my bag workout for 9- minutes with two breaks for one minute to get hydration.
During the day and during your workout, stay hydrated with water diluted with green tea, as I do.
Lifestyle The key to an age-defying appearance besides getting enough sleep, a healthy diet, and routine fitness is staying active in hobbies, sports, and cores around the house; or in my case the farm. One of my hobbies is welding, which is like blue collar artwork, but much more rewarding.
