QATSPY-login THE QATSPY GOLFER

The Spring season brings the opportunities of enjoying outdoor activities again, including sports, exercising, and getting back onto the golf course after a long hibernation of winter. The change of the weather also brings the chances of severe spring storms, like we had this month, across the country.

On Thursday, March 31, 2016, we experienced the same severe storms here in Mississippi that ravaged the Midwest. I had several trees that split out and fell across various locations of my fence. So the following day, on Friday, my wife and I used my chainsaw and Kubota tractor to cut and drag the trees off the fence and pile them up in the field to be burned. While piling the limbs, I hear that sound that no golfer wants to hear in the right shoulder, that pop sound.

I was fine as long as my adrenaline was flowing. But that night, I had pain and stiffness in my right shoulder that definitely affected my golf game on the following Monday. Even the football coach sitting on the patio saw how I struggled with my approach shot into the 18th green. I lost one ball on the 16th fairway in the water hazard that caused me to score a 73 for the round.

I’m cautious about taking glucosamine and ibuprofen for a long period of time, because it hikes my blood pressure. I took glucosamine and ibuprofen, in addition to icing my shoulder for two days, just to reduce the inflammation and reduce the pain. My blood pressure edged up to 133/85. There was a small amount of improvement, but I still experienced some amount of pain and restricted movement in my right shoulder.

Pumpkin Seeds Last week on Thursday, April 7, I started taking three handfuls of dry pumpkin seeds after each meal.  The second day after I started taking the pumpkin seeds and icing my shoulder, I completely eliminated the pain and stiffness in my right shoulder. And better yet, my blood pressure is back down to 115/62, where it is normally. I should be back on the golf course and walking 18 holes on Monday, April 18. This is a better option than what I was thinking I would have to face, resorting to going to the doctor and enduring physical therapy. Of course, it will be another week before I can work out with the punching bag in the CASPER Workout program http://goo.gl/hsi3Ee.

Two decisions that you can make for yourself and your kids are to get a copy of my book and place the book and a golf club into their hands. You will never look back, but only forward. You will not miss with this for yourself and/or your kids.

A Recommendation for your Golf Game:

I would like to recommend a wonderful radio program that I regularly listen to on my I-Heart Radio app on KARN 102.9 FM station, out of Little Rock, AR. They air a golf show called “Arkansas Fairways and Greens,” at 7:00 AM CT each Saturday morning, hosted by Bob Steel and Jay Fox. Bob occasionally has on his show a guest named Shawn Humphries, a Professional Golf Instructor from Dallas, Texas. One thing that Mr. Humphries stresses is the mental part of golf, not focusing on the results but the process.

Until next time– Be Synched, Tee-to-Green, with The ESPY Golf Swing!
