THE QATSPY® The Quapaw Aviation Tech Sportswear & Performance, Your Outfitter Company
The Flying Tigers pilots/aviators that flew the Curtiss P-40 Warhawk out of Burma during the early days of World War II providing aerial support for China air defense. The P-40 might not have had the performance of the P-51 Mustang, but with the tactics that General Claire L. Chennault developed the AVG a significant advantage.
The AVG was made up of volunteer pilots and aviators from the U.S. Army Air Corps, U.S. Navy, U.S. Marine Corps that painted the tiger shark’s teeth, tong, and eyes on the nose of their P-40’s. This gave the Flying Tigers a psychological edge in a very tough aerial combat with the Empire of Japan even before Pearl Harbor was bomb.
The Flying Tigers flew combat missions from April of 1941 thru July of 1942. Even though their service time was relative short compare to the World War II and other squadrons, the P-40 Warhawk still attract spectators to airshows even today that we hold at our airport.
