Veterans’ Day Spent with Mr. Rogers, U.S. Navy, & Marine Corps

US WINGS® Leather Bound adventures to the LSU Vs. Bama Football game and a special visit with Mr. Jolly Rogers on Veterans’ Day. The Jolly Rogers Squadron F-14 Tomcat is featured above where I’m wearing my favorite A-2 Cape Buffalo Flight Jacket.

It was a pretty fascinating weekend traveling to Tuscaloosa, Alabama to watch the game of the Century between No. 1 LSU and then No. 2 Alabama. I count myself fortunate to have seen two games of a Century in one lifetime. The first one was Texas vs. Arkansas, in what was the National title in 1969. Both were within a 5-poins spread of each other.

Then to top this off is one of my three favorite holidays, all within two months span of time. These are Veterans’ Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. All of these days we can celebrate Freedom, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness.

One of the treats I look forward to each Veterans’ Day is spending time with a branch of the U.S. Service, so this past Veterans’ Day wasn’t any different, except for the F-14 Tomcat we got to look over. There are a few aircraft that I like on the civilian side, with one of my favorites civilian aircraft being the Beechcraft 250 Super King Air, absolute great aircraft, shown below. On the military side of the slate– I like the P-51 Mustang, P-40 Warhawk, and the F-14 Tomcat, shown above as the feature photograph.

Flying Aerial Line Patrol one November Day

I was flying your normal aerial patrol with Mercury Aviation in November of 2003, heading toward Oxford, Mississippi for a refueling stop, about 500 feet in elevation while finishing up a long day. As we were heading east, an F-14 Tomcat decided to pay his respects to us. About a quarter-of-a-mile ahead of us, an F-14 dropped down to tree top level for about three-miles, then pulled up and went vertical to his cruising altitude of about 20,000 feet. He must have pulled 4 to 5-G’s.

We must have seemed like we were parked to his airspeed. We were heading east at approximately 60 knots, our normal patrol speed, compared to his 800 knots. The F-14 Tomcat can top out at 1,340 knots.

Ever since the movie TOPGUN and that day in November 2003, The Grumman F-14 Tomcat has been my favorite modern Fighter. What was special about this F-14 Tomcat was its markings, shown in the featured photograph above of Skull & Cross bones on the vertical stabilizers, as these markings belong to a the Jolly Rogers.

US WINGS® Series of Flight Jackets that THE QATSPY® Sells

US WINGS® has now in stock the replica of the same CWU-45P Nylon Flight Jacket that Tom Cruise will be wearing in TOPGUN 2 Movie. This Nylon Flight Jacket has the exact same patches that are on the Tom Cruise Jacket that he is wearing in the trailer shown at the end of this article. These are also the same patches furnished to TOPGUN. Above and Below photograph, I’m wearing the TOPGUN 2 CWU-45P Nylon Flight Jacket with a U.S. Marine Corps hoodie.

Even the U.S. ARMY pays respect to the NAVY and U.S. Marines Corps. We are all brothers in service of the greatest country in the world. Especially since the day before (10Nov) that was the 244th birthday of the Marine Corps, established in 1775.

What is interesting about the year 1775, All three services, at that time, were established in 1775, with Army on June 14th, Navy on October 13th, and Marine Corps on November 10th. The Declaration of Independence wasn’t completely drafted and signed until July 4th, 1776. The wisdom of the first Continental Congress knew that ink and paper alone wasn’t going to secure or achieve the Freedom and Liberties that we enjoy today. It was going to take the military’s might.

It was nice for the F-14 guys to pay their respects on a day that would have been a normal, non-script day for us. Right before going vertical, the pilot waved his wings, just to say we got your 12 and 6 to some average guys who were out performing routine aerial patrol in a helicopter.

Even though we are all part of the same U.S. Military Service, we do have our favorite teams we like to pull for in the Commander Trophy game. This one day we either pull for ARMY or NAVY, in great Sportsmanship of competition.

The QATSPY Q-up Athletic Training of Sports Performance

Below is a FREE YouTube Video that I produced in my training facility, demonstrating the Bunt/Rap-Type Golf Swings. Even though this is where I practice my putting on a 4Ft x 10 Ft. practice green, it works excellent for developing your golf swing mechanics from tee-to-green.

The very same golf swing mechanics used in the Bunt/Rap-Type Golf Swing sequence are the exact same for the golfer to take them from tee-to-green. But there is a technique I want you to remember to start your downswing- Drop the dominant wristband toward the trail big toe. If you skull a golf shot, this will prevent you from doing so.

Now, once you are on the green, you can refer to my YouTube Putting Video, also FREE of charge:

For Veterans who are interested in picking up the game of golf for mental/physical Therapy, I have a FREE Program called Operation DOG-TAG. This provides a full detail on how to set up an Operation DOG-TAG in your area. If you are within a 150 miles of Jackson, Mississippi, I can come and present this program to your group, FREE of Charge. For those outside the 150 miles range, I just ask you cover my travel and lodging expenses.
