The Importance of DIET and FITNESS for the Health of your Body and Skin

I’m 65 years old in this photograph that was taken as part of our photoshoot that we did for our Flight Operations Center Collections on January 07th, 2023 , that includes the authentic A-2 and G-1 Leather Flight Jackets that we supply to the U.S. Military that are based on the same Mil-specs from 1931. The A-2 Leather Flight Jacket was what inspired the leather jacket worn by Harrison Ford in the Indiana Jones Movies. The aircraft in our hangar is the P-51 Mustang like the one Tom Cruise was working on and flew during the TOP GUN: MAVERICK Movie.

The Ramifications & Side Effects of Obesity– Interesting Conversation with my Neighbor, a Medical Doctor, concerning Treating Patients

My neighbor, who’s a doctor of internal medicine, and I were jogging with our dogs in our neighborhood discussing the obesity rate in Mississippi this past Monday afternoon, January 23rd, 2023. She’s in her late 20’s, was inquiring how I kept in shape at age 65 and wasn’t on any prescribed medication. She mentioned during our conversation after our run that 75 percent of her patients that she sees aren’t just over weight, but are considered obese.

Her patients are under the notion that medication and drugs they see advertised are the magic pill to treat their symptoms of being obese. She explain to me that she tries to impress on them that they needed to follow a healthy diet and develop a fitness routine that could solve majority of their medical issues.

My doctor friend,’DOC’, believes, as I do, that given the opportunity with proper diet and regular exercises, that the body can restore a person’s health and even reverse the symptoms of obesity as well as other aging issues.

The Top Three Vital Numbers to Improve One’s Health

The top three symptoms of over weight and obesity are- Hypertension, Diabetes, and high Cholesterol. She explains that regardless of how much she presses the issue with her patients, they don’t see or understand the correlation between their symptoms and how following a proper diet and regular fitness routine can improve these numbers; even to a point that they could get off certain medications.

She asked me, ‘What type of diet and fitness program did I followed to have the health and condition to look 35-year-old at age 65?’ I explained that my diet accounts for 80 percent of my conditioning, based on WHEN I ate (9 a.m. to 5 p.m.) and just as important WHAT I ate (only eating menu items at or below a Health Index of 3.25). I explained that my fitness and lifestyle was the other 20 percent, based on staying active in my work and sports as my lifestyle.

But my diet was the major component of my health and fitness. This should be good news to the average person, like your patients, that the biggest impact on their health and fitness is simply a proper diet.

My DELPHI DIET & FITNESS System Sessions

I continued to explain to my doctor friend that in my health and fitness training sessions that I present during my DELPHI DIET & FITNESS System, majority of my audience consider fitness as cardio and aerobics. People that I talk to seem to think that strength training is for athletes and younger people. Strength training should be part of your fitness program for your entire life.

Strength Training actually improves a person’s balance, cognitive function, and the most noticeable, the health and condition of one’s skin.

I get my audience’s attention when I explain to them that at age 65 and I model my sportswear and produce training videos on my website: espygolfapp.com. My fitness includes Cardio-Aerobic and Strength Training with my diet based on WHEN (based on our Circadian Rhythms) and WHAT I eat that has provided me the ability to model and have age-defying skin of a person who’s in their mid-30’s.

This was a photograph that was taken on December 02nd, 2022 for our Quapaw Sportswear & Performance Collection. The Stingray Corvette is a 1963 Model, the motorcycle is my INDIAN Scout Bobber 60. Doc and I are wearing our U.S. Military Issued A-2 Leather Flight Jackets that we have available for bot MEN and WOMEN. The ’63 Corvette was added because it was part of a car & airshow we had in October of 2022. I have a friend that brought it down for our airshow at our hangar.

The Breakdown of the WHEN and WHAT of My Diet

WHEN– You DON’T WANT to eat past 6 p.m. because the later you eat past 6 p.m., it interferes with your body’s natural ability to repair and rejuvenate not just your body, but more importantly, your skin. Also eating past 6 p.m. causes hypertension, diabetes, and increase levels of LDL Cholesterol in the blood system. Neither one of the three culprits are a good in reference to your health. On May 11th, 2022, John Tesh on his radio show, Intelligence for Your Life, substantiated the WHEN FACTOR in a Cleveland Clinic Report.

My Waistline Chart that I still keep and measure in each Sunday Morning

I been on this eating schedule of eating before 6 p.m. since November of 2014, where I dropped 6-inches in my waistline in just 9- weeks. Refer to my Waistline Chart, above.

Nine (9) data points that I use to turn my metabolism in to a calorie-burning-juggernaut. I keep all my meals items at or below a Health Index of 3.25.

If WHEN I eat is the engine of my diet, than the WHAT I eat is the Turbocharger to my diet that turns my metabolism into a calorie-burning-juggernaut.

WHAT- Is the ability to use nine (9)-data points off Nutrition Labels to identify foods that are high in Protein, Fiber, Probiotics, Prebiotic, and Omega-3 fats; but low in glucose-type sugars and especially the hidden sugars, your starches. These are the healthy foods that are a part of a healthy diet that has a Health Index (HI) at or below 3.25.

STRENGTH TRAINING

The impact of STRENGTH TRAINING on an age-defying skin- There are receptors called Fibroblast Natural Growth Hormone receptors that are connective tissue that are just under the skin. These receptors are responsible for releasing collagen to keep the skin and joints healthy.

What really gets my audience attention is when I show them in my PowerPoint presentation a photograph of me taken on January 07th, 2023 when temperatures were in the upper 60’s that allowed me take off my shirt and T-shirt, what I call an AB Challenge.

I showed my doctor friend my AB Challenge on my I-phone taken in our hangar after we did a photoshoot for our Flight Operations Center Collection:

This photograph was taken on January 7th, 2023 in our hangar when temperatures were in the upper 60’s for a rare winter January day. Just 2- weeks earlier, temperatures were in the lower 20’s; not exactly motorcycle riding weather.

Strength Training actually turbocharges these natural growth hormone receptors to increase the release of collagen for age-defying skin and for healthy joints.

I texted my doctor friend my PowerPoint that contain my 8-steps to Health and Fitness that I follow and present during my training session:

Eight (8) Step to Health

  • Take and check your blood pressure, blood glucose, and cholesterol levels regularly.

·         Measure your waistline regularly; your waistline should be under one-half your height, in inches. For example, my height is 65- inches, so my waistline should be 32.50- inches. Actually, my waist is 28.50- inches that I check regularly.

·         Have a diet that is based on WHAT- high in Protein, dietary fiber, and Omega-3, but very low in sugar and the hidden sugars, those pesky starches that are so tantalizing, because they are laced with salt.

·         WHEN you eat, between 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Remember that nothing ever good happens if you eat past 6 p.m.

·         Exercise on a regular basis that includes Aerobic-Cardio and Strength Training. You have a Strength & Conditioning Coach on staff; use them!

  • Have time for yourself in nature for walks and also for reading.
  • Develop a hobby or two that can become your part-time job when you retire. The best way to avoid looking and feeling your age is to have something you enjoy doing after you retire. Mine are welding, sports writing, flying, and working on my farm.
  •  Above all, get your annual physical.
