THE QATSPY® Tie-Down & Button-Down Oxford Shirt, A Simple Tie-Down for Your Tie to Look Professional and in Fashion, Keep Everything Buttoned-Down

How to keep your tie from flying around with a very simple rubber band technique.

I’ve been a fan of Henry David Thoreau ever since my high school English teacher, Ms. Ryan,  introduced me to his writings, especially Walden; or, Life in the Woods. I’m certainly not alone in my interest in Henry David Thoreau’s writings with President Calvin Coolidge and John F. Kennedy and my uncle also favoring his philosophy.  Henry David Thoreau’s view on life was SIMPLICITY.

Even in my Engineering career, I looked for simple solution to problems I had to encounter. It paid off in the long run for several reasons. I even have a sign in my office that simply states, Keep it Simple. This has formed my philosophy in my career and my golf business that also includes my line of apparel items that I carry in my Online Store.

When I attend business meetings and make presentations before large groups on my Palmer Golf Coach APP, I usually wear my Button-Down Oxford Shirt that is pressed and starched with a tie. My uncle, who was a lawyer, gave me a piece of advice that I have never forgotten, and that is in conducting business or traveling, wear a tie. It makes you stand out and establish a positive impression on others. First Impressions are KEY!

Well, I took the Button-Down Oxford Shirt with a tie to the next level with my sports jacket that is an A-2 Leather Flight Jacket. This fits into my lifestyle, regardless of the situation that I find myself, from an open invitation with clients, to the open road or sky.

Talking about the open sky, you might enjoy flying like I do, but you don’t want your tie doing the same thing. You want your tie to have that button-down professional look, without a tie clasp or tie tack. I pay too much for my silk ties to put holes in or marks on them. I’m not a proponent of punching a hole in my tie. But to keep your tie from flying around, I use a very simple technique using a simple rubber band, and follow the rubber band tie-down illustration below:

STEP No. 1
STEP No. 2 The Loop around the Loop
STEP No. 3 Button Loop
STEP No. 4 Button-Up the Loop
STEP No. 5 The Final Rubber Band Tie-Down

I’ve been using this rubber band tie-down for decades and it is very effective, even on tarmacs while waiting to board a charter flight.

The right apparel for all occasions from formal to function THE QATSPY® got you covered!

I have a friend who is a weatherman for a local television station that was telling me why he likes wearing a vest, in order to keep his tie from flying around in the wind. I told him about my rubber band tie-down technique, and he remarked that was brilliant. Simple ways are the best approach to solve an issue.
