Tom Cruise, in both of his TOPGUN Movies 1 and 2, is seen riding his motorcycle while arriving at TOPGUN. When the first TOPGUN Movie was released in 1986, it was natural to want to mimic the same charismatic maneuvers by ICEMAN, MAVERICK, and COUGAR.

One of the closest sensation that one can get to flight is what I experience riding my INDIAN Scout Motorcycle provides, especially since I’m retired now from transmission line work and flying. One part of my duties as Grid Engineer when I worked was to perform aerial patrols, four (4) times a year, over a three-week period, including performing outage patrols after storms and hurricanes. We usually patrolled in a helicopter (or what is referred to as a rotor wing aircraft) either in a Roberson 44 or a 206 Bell Jet Ranger.

This was the last day that I worked performing an aerial line patrol in a 206 D Bell Jet Ranger before I retired from a transmission line utility company in September of 2015.
