The ‘Green Light Letter’ from President Franklin Roosevelt to Judge Kenesaw M. Landis, the first Baseball Commissioner.

By: Charles W. Boatright

We Don’t Often Consider Sports and Athletics as an Essential Part of Our Culture, But It’s More than a Factor than One Thinks

It is difficult to actually realize how much sports has played a major role in our culture, until we have to start canceling sporting events off our calendar and schedules. This cancellation affects both amateur and professional sporting events. We have come to realize how much sports has become a major part of our lifestyles, beyond just being our pastime. Sports is just as much a part of our social health and well-being as other activities are we usually engaged in.

Even during World War II, Major League Baseball Commissioner, Judge Kenesaw Landis, wrote a letter to President Franklin Roosevelt to ask if they should go on with the 1942 season, as this was the first season after U.S. declared War after Pearl Harbor.

The featured image is the reply letter from President Roosevelt called ‘The Green Light Letter’ to Judge Kenesaw M. Landis. This letter just indicates how important sports was, even during wartime conditions.

At the present time we as a nation can’t even attend sporting events as they could during World War II. You could see your enemy then that we were fighting, unlike the present time where we can’t see our enemy, CORVID-19 Pandemic.

Mental Component of Sports

MY KINDLE BOOK: THE SPORTS BIBLE- YELLOWSTONE PAPERS

Since we are having to shelter at our homes and restrict our activities to social distancing for essential jobs and essential tasks, we are having to reduce our outdoor activities. This restriction of outdoor activities has a direct impact on our mental and physical health. While we are having to restrict our social activities to interrupt the transmission of Covid-19, we still need to maintain our fitness.

Even if we have to restrict our social activities, I would like to bring to your attention certain advantages we have now that our parents and grandparents  didn’t have during World War II. One major advantage is what we have now versus what they had during World War II. We still have access to an excellent supply chain of products that we didn’t have during the war, due to rationing. Our Nation had to ration such items as sugar, flour, meat, fuel, and other basic items.

During World War II, our parents only had newspapers and radio, at best, to listen to for their information, and even the electrical grid was limited. The major part of communication was Telegrams, compared to our internet we have now.

We are presently conducting virtual commerce, education, and business that wasn’t even a possibility during World War II. Tele-health and our technologies than weren’t what we have now. But we still need physical activity, to play an essential role in our physical and mental health. Top doctors believe that what benefits the heart and soul also benefits the mind. Please keep this in mind to make sure you get physical activity.

I wrote an article on 27Mar2020 entitled ASPEN Meditation for High performance Exercise that show how you can even use your normal exercise routine to maintain both your mental and physical health as a meditation element. Exercise also improves your immune system. Another great benefit of following an exercise routine is that it provides a great anti-aging component.

Can you imagine how you can use your sweat equity put into your routine exercise can actually be used as an anti-aging agent? Below in the photograph is a photograph of me at age 62.

Miss US WINGS and myself are wearing The US WINGS® CWU-45P TOPGUN 2 Nylon Flight Jacket (left) and the A-2 Leather Flight Jacket (right) that we supply to the U.S. Military. Both meet the U.S. Military Specs.

NOTE: In the photograph above, I’m wearing THE QATSPY® A-2 Leather Flight Jacket that can be cleaned daily if necessary. I would strongly recommend that you leave your cloth sport jacket in the closet and wear a leather jacket that you can clean with recommended cleaners. This will reduce the chances you bring The CORVID-19 into your home and to your family. About two years ago, I have switched from wearing a regular sports jacket to meet customers and attend meetings to wearing my A-2 Leather Flight Jacket that I carry in my Online Store.

Research has found that exercise prevents the shortening of telomeres — the DNA that acts like bookend chromosomes to protect your cells from damage — much like our US WINGS Flight Jackets provides us protection. On a molecular level, the effects of having a regular exercise program reduce the impact of aging and age-related disease.

The Sport of Golf as an Effective Athletic Activity

Despite what people may think, golf requires a high degree of flexibility, strength, and stamina, especially if you walk the golf course, that some medical experts suggest  for isolating yourself. Walking the golf course provides approximately 8.2 to 8.75 miles of walking exercise.

I have included five (5) of my FREE YouTube Videos that also include my CASPER Exercise Routine. The four (4) golf YouTube Videos can help people set up an athletic activity, even at home and in your garage. My four Videos can take you from tee-to-green and include how to setup and effective putting techniques. These YouTube Videos provide even a great offseason and family athletic activity anytime you have spare time. And it seems like we have a lot of time on our hands.

Also, golf is a great athletic activity for homeschooled students for both those who are having to stay out of school and for regular homeschooled students. I have several Downloads in my Coach’s Film Room.

A set of startup golf clubs can be purchased from a yard sale or a second-hand store for a fraction of the cost of a new set of clubs. Technological development as such a pace in golf clubs that has caused a significant depreciation in used golf clubs, even ones that are year old.

Until July 31, 2020, I have placed my QATR-408 Palmer Technique (the Wrist Action in the Golf Swing) on SALE for only $10.00, regularly $25.00. This is a tee-to-green golf coaching session. This training routine allows the students to take their golf swing from the batter’s box to the tee box. If you have played baseball or thrown a baseball, you got this.

This Download or 32 of my other Downloads are great for treating PTSD in Vets and people dealing with the Corvid-19 Outbreak. Our thanks go out to you for your dedication and sacrifice.
